It could've backfired and India could have ended up with no lead at all. I can understand what u r trying to say though.

But any Asian team should have the ability to dismiss a touring non Asian team on the last day of a test match.

Once he went past 150 he could have scored faster.

He is a Bangladeshi Hindu.

Not a Pak.

Supports Bangladesh and then India. But off late, loves to both support India and takes pleasure in the failure of its players.

Really ?

First and foremost his pointless obsession with the fast bowlers needs to stop.

Sometimes I wonder, does he use his fast bowlers to win the game or does he use his fast bowlers to make the point that he's different from dhoni?

So far he's been an utter failure as a captain. U don't have Starc or wasim at ur disposal kohli, u have a trundling brigade in ur bag. So use them cautiously.

Can you please explain how Shami , Yadav and Ishant are trundlers?

This argument I am seeing Ishant was crap.

who selects him? (its an open question) Kumble ? Kohli? Both?

and its a more general question. Should kumble get more involved in Virats captaincy as he is a young guy?

We have a much better bench strength now. What's the need to play him in each and every match. It is the same with other players too. The brain trust of BCCI is not using their brains it seems.

oops wrong thread. Regarding Ashwin I am speaking.

I think if we had 10 overs extra on Day 4 we would have won. This same thing happened in the Windies match. Windies lost quick wickets on day 4 before bad light or rain and then Roston chase batted all day 5 to draw the match.

Agreed, India needed more overs at Aus on day 4, the batsmen were tired after 200+ overs in the field and their concentration would have been suffering.

India only gave themselves 8ovs at our batsmen before letting them go and rest up and come back fresh the next day.

Am I the only one who thinks Pujara was too slow and if he batted at even 50 SR our chances would have been much stronger?

hindsight is good.

it was not a pitch where you could score quickly.

Explain how Jadeja managed to score run a ball. Jadeja is the last person you would expect to score freely unless the pitch is easy.At one point (before tea) Australian bowlers were tired and Pujara just didn't show any intent to score. I am not blaming him completely but he was the reason we got back into the match and he was also partly the reason why it ended up being draw.No point blaming bowlers much bcoz this wasn't a track where you could take all wickets within a day.

Pujara's innings was superb till the time we actually reached Australia's 1st innings score.  He was the primary reason we were able to dominate in this match.

That being said, Pujara could have played at a slightly higher SR after that.  Even after reaching 450..... Pujara went on batting at a SR of 40.  He was 170 off 446 balls when we reached 450  and scored 32  runs off 79 balls even after that.   Scoring faster during this period was quite possible by a set batsman. ( Even Jadeja scored at a run a ball without taking too many risks and Saha scored at a SR of 50 too )

Pujara is one of the best in the world when defending and staying at  the crease is required.  When the match situation demands it, he comes out tops.  But, he is very bad at adapting to match situations and just plays his own game more often than not with an occasional innings that is different.

There is something called as scoreboard pressure which Jadeja didn't have. He was looking for runs and be aggressive. When Pujara and Sahoo started to up the ante they were dismissed. It was not easy to score when there is scoreboard pressure. Pujara was playing for time as well post tea. They wanted Aus to bat the whole of D5 and India didn't want to bat on the 4th innings. Hence the slowness of Pujara post tea even after crossing Aus score.

Jadeja slogged his way. Pujara is not a slogger.
