even previously, SL players were banned from playing in chennai in on the previous years.  It was weird when a captain of a side had to sit on the bench in chennai just because he was sri lankan.

They should have not had a team from TN.bloody any tom dick and harry can make an issue out of anything.

Chennai has one of the best fanbase in the country. IMO they are most passionate towards their team. Its hard to ignore that.

And the issues are happening all over country nowadays. Protesting/Opposing is becoming a fashion and part of pop culture now. Almost all states are going through some or other issues. Crazy times ahead.

That was terrible on the part of the Tamil Nadu government. Lankans have never done any of this * with Tamil players like Vijay/ Karthik/Ashwin there, many Indian Tamils conduct business in Lanka, Chennai-Colombo flight tickets sell like hot cakes, shared culture etc......besides Murali (CSK IPL star in the 1st few years) is a Tamil and so is their captain Angelo Matthews I think. Both TN and Lanka share great cricketing ties, there was  an annual Gopalan trophy between the 2 sides even till a few years back   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._J._Gopalan_Trophy

Sad to see these * politicians create nuisance day in and day out.

When things happen elsewhere, the govt is expected to deal with the **** and if they can't they don't get matches.

In TN politics takes over and vote bank becomes most important.

Which other state would have seen srilankan or any other player sitting benches because some *ed up politicians have issues.

Matches should be transferred to Bangalore. That will serve them right and will cause lot of burn to all protestors.

this will be best possible way to deal with these morons .. but dont think it will happen even if blore has an additional stadium

Will have to wait and watch whether local population is supporting this or not... we can shout here as much as we want but if majority of the people have soft corner for this issue there then good for them...they won...for good or bad only time will tell...

IPL and CSK have to move on I guess... they are screwed for the season...playing couple of games in Kochi, Ranchi, Vizag will not let them settle down anywhere...

There are some news flowing around saying... the shoe was thrown at Jadeja bcos he is a gujju (gujju hate against Modi)

Hope this is not true... it sounds the most pathetic thing if true... could turn into ugly thing further ahead

Chennai Super Kings will lose their home advantage for the rest of the 2018 season.* The IPL has decided to move their six remaining home games out of the city in the wake of protests during the venue's first match, and threats to disrupt more fixtures; the games will be played in Pune instead.

Shoes getting thrown at players is just not acceptable behavior by the crowd. It's a insulting behavior and totally rude one too. Also players safety was another concern while the games have been shifted. It's a good move considering player safety.

Just like Bengal I fear we are witnessing the decline of the erstwhile mighty Tamil state. Bengal was the center of our Renaissance, vital for our freedom struggle and produced a major bulk of our intelligentsia...look at today's Bengal, hopeless. Similarly TN which produced the finest minds once upon a time is staring at intellectual bankruptcy. Most of the great Tamil minds and geniuses are in the age category of 45+, the state has simply stopped producing the likes of Ramanujam, CV Raman, Chandrashekhar, Varadhan , Venkatraman, Vishy Anand. etc. We have already lost the mighty Bengalis, now with the decline of the Tamils we are heading toward some sort of a crisis, no other group of people in the subcontinent can match the brain power and creativity of the creme de la creme of these 2 states IMHO. All the major scientific breakthroughs in modern day India including bio-tech, space program and missile development owe their success to many people but a majority of the scientists/engineers came from these 2 places, Bengal even contributed a lot in the cultural sphere.
