Khota
http://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1152156/what-india-need-to-do-to-win-in-england Nice article. A well written pece though I have some disagreements. I dont see any room for Vijay and Pujara. catches need to be taken. Empahsis on spin. Players with current good form are more important than previous record. Link to comment
Trichromatic
Template for good overseas tour is fixed for Indian team. Batsman need to score big. 300-350 won't work unless it's too much bowling friendly conditions. Scoring big doesn't mean one batsman scoring 110 and rest just chipping in with 30-40s. Batsmen have to get real big 100s with big partnerships and ensure that game doesn't go out of control. Saving at least 2 tests. Spinners taking wickets consistently. Can't have figures of 120-1. A bowling figure of 90-2 or 50-1 is still good. Can't go wicketless, no matter what have to pick 1-2 wickets each even on tough day. Pacers need to have at least 1 lucky test, can't remain just good whole series. No matter if they go for 500 in some tests, 2-3 days good days are enough to define the series score as long as batsmen save the games. Need 5-fers from pacers on those days. Tailender can't go out for paltry totals. 30-5 is way too dangerous, there is huge difference between 2 runs by a tailender and 20 runs by some lucky slogging. Like if team is 320-6, ensure they cross 400 and not get bowled out for 350. Need to hold all catches and if possible take some blinders at crucial moments. Vilander
THis is a telling stat. Vijay needs to revert back to his defensive way to shielld Kohli and Rahane..he should not go for attacking shots. Link to comment

Cricketics
Need to score well as a team and wickets will come eventually from our bowlers. If we do not put up runs, it won’t help bowlers at all and they will end up trying too much which will make our bowling worse than it actually is, as our bowlers are much better now even though they lack Bhuvi and fit Bumrah. 3-4-5 Pujara-Kohli-Rahane are the real key for me. We score well, then our bowlers will bowl with cushion and win us few tests. Onus on our batting to deliver big time They did not do last time around. They must do this time. Link to comment
Trichromatic
This is single most pathetic record. 1. Catchhttps://t.co/FLFNA0CauF #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/oFJujOOYPV — The Cricket Monthly (@cricketmonthly) July 21, 2018 I don't know how any team can expect to win matches with catch drop rate higher than 50%. What's worse we have seen was Dhawan (another serial dropper) fielding at slips even when Rahane was in team. Only thing that can explain that farce is that Kohli wants to talk to his buddy. With a proper coach there would be emphasis on taking catches. Wonder what Maharathi Shastri is doing. Link to comment

Current spinners We have won 2 test in Eng and SA in last 7 years and spinners didn't even play in 1. So you want to make an opinion based on 1 match only? What's there to talk about current lot? They wanted to make a point that spinners will have to do their job, can't rely solely on pacers. It has been the case in modern cricket and India spinners have no excuse. Even in our previous 2 tours to England, Moeen Ali took lot of wickets, while in 2011 Swann won a test at Oval. Moeen Ali was MoS against SA in England. When Pakistan toured them during similar time in 2016, Yasir Shah won them 2 tests. Pacers did their job too. England is one place where your spinners can't remain just run containing option, they have to play like frontline bowling option. Link to comment

All 5 pacers, 5th one being Pandya. They different type of pitches against than what they may against SA. SA mostly gets drier grass less pitches. PItches against Indian will mostly have grass and if there is grass, spinners are rendered useless and we do not have any bowler like Yasir Shah. Kuldeep or Ashwin are no match to him overseas.
