The SF against Pak was even more satisfying. Gul talked big in the build up to the match before Viru put him in his place. :phehe:

Very underrated knock by Raina too at the end to get us to a decent total and the game against Aus too him and yuvi saw us through.

Wow. TFS.

This reminds me, where can I get the full final start to finish ball by ball? Used to have it earlier but lost some data.

I downloaded from an invites only torrent site . The invite system is not working currently so can't invite you.

That's a tradition which has carried on from ages. Every WC Pak players make statements before the match and Indian team answers them on the field   I remember Akhtar wanting to scare the Indian batsmen in 2003 WC as well and yet the shameless flog actually wrote "Tendulkar's legs used to shake when he faced me:hysterical:

That over where Tendulkar took apart Akhtar is one of the best memories I have along with Sehwag dismantling Gul in semis in 2011 :giggle:

The Win against Aussies was most satisfying for me, it would have been a major upset if we had lost to either Pakistan or SriLanka. But beating Aussies who always knew how to win big matches was key and Yuvi was just awesome the way he absorbed the pressure.

Dhoni stole the the limelight but it was Yuvi who deserves hell lot of credit. This guy is a legend of Indian cricket he was instrumental in India winning two world cups. Dhoni just rode his coattails for both titles.

How exactly did Dhoni steal the limelight?  Yuvi was the MVP for the world cup and is rightly given credit for it.  Dhoni played a clutch knock in the final too.  No need to bash him just as a course of habit.

So did Gambhir. He doesn't get his due. Not just for 2011 but for 2007 also. Dhoni worship steals credit of some equally or more deserving players even in general in ICC trophies.:agree:

Again, why does crediting Gambhir require a reference to "Dhoni worship"?   Gambo played clutch innings in multiple games in the 2007 win, and also the 2011 final.  What is this obsession that drags Dhoni into everything.

Apparently if someone takes the limelight the other is completely ignored.I think its pretty much simple to understand.Dhoni personally isn't at fault but dhoni worship and worshippers are.

There was no need for him to promote himself there, he never did whole tournament, Yuvi was in great form and Gambhir was steady at the other end. Dhoni did great but Yuvi could have done the same thing.

Gambhir's Knock to me was far more important than Dhoni but gets lost, even in this thread you see Gambhir's knock barely being mentioned nor Zak gets enough credit for carrying the bowling attack.

Getting limelight and getting MOS are two different things, that world cup win earned Dhoni so much cache , it pales in comparison what Yuvi got from it.

It is not bashing it is just fact, Dhoni had horrible tournament but somehow is credited as main reason for India winning finals.

*yawn*.   Nice diatribe.  You have the likes of Ganguly still getting celebrated as a "great captain" for the exploits of Laxman, Dravid, Bhajji and Tendulkar.  And all he managed was get to a WC Final as skipper, tallying up a record as Captain for losing the most # of finals along the way.  Dhoni was captain of a WC winning team, and played a MoM knock in the final to boot.   Captains always get recognized for team records - the same lot merrily blames Captain Dhoni for anything and everything under the sun that happened during his captaincy years - from Yadav and Ishant's failures, to Srini's machinations, to global warming and bollywood movie flops and what not.  Lionizing him too much is wrong, so is demonizing him.  And you don't have to pick one of those 2.  There is a middle way.  Countless other ways.

What about loses under dhoni? Funnily they are always due to other reasons but not dhoni . Rubbish bowling. You know. :hysterical: Anyway I won't comment more since this will spoil the spirit of OP.

Yes there was.Srilanka had two offfies operating and two lefties would have given them the advantage in middle overs.More so with the ball turning.

But Iam sure getting limelight is more important than winning world Cup.
