The way Bumrah is bowling this season. ... combining pace and bounce with accuracy and seam movement.....picking wickets even when the batsman is not going for shots.....He should be tried in test matches. Should do no worse than Ishant.

Bumrah had a good Ranji season too and has had practice bowling lots of overs.

If he can sustain pace in the 5 day format, he should be tried.

No harm in trying him out but I don't think he is a test bowler. He does not have a stock delivery like a consistent outswinger nor does he have the height to effectively be a hit the deck seamer either. He should be our Yorker specialist in LOIs like Malinga was for Lanka

if only his line was better he would have been a much better bowler, you just know he will bowl some easy hit balls even when he is bowling well

Nearly every over there's one sliding down the leg or a short and wide one. In Tests you can get away with it but in shorter formats batsmen make you pay.

Bumrah has a stock delivery.... good length, off stump and seams in.  He bowls it with good consistency too.

Shami is an effective hit-the-deck pacer at around 5'9" .  Bumrah is around 6' with a high arm action and gets good bounce regularly. No reason why he cannot suceed as a hit the deck pacer.... provided he can bowl at good pace.

Brilliant bowling...  showing how its done to phasttt hack

Interesting to see how fast hacks did this IPL. Just following this match tells its story. Unadkat, Sundar, Thakur had not conceded a single boundary in 5 overs. PHasssttttt Lockie comes on to bowl 6th over and first ball taken for FOUR and 16 runs conceded in the over, doubling MI score from first 5 overs in 1 over itself.

Some people fail to understand it's performance which matters and not the speed. End result for a bowler is to take wkts and concede as few runs as possible, and not to have a higher rating on the speedgun :giggle:

T20 is all about deception, change of pace, whether you are slow or quick. T20 is not the platform to measure a cricketer. No fast bowling fan talk about pace in t20. For us, IPL is a place to watch our young fast bowlers and not to judge them based on t20 because ipl success or failure doesn't guarantee success in international cricket. T20 is like a masala entertainer bollywood movie does earn a lot of money but doesn't make you a great film maker or actor. Same way t20 that too IPL doesn't make one a great cricketer. It just makes you good in IPL that's it. What they do in ipl is futile.

You have to understand that we are also talking about T20 performances only. Nobody is asking for either Unadkat or Sandeep to make it to Test team based on IPL performances.

Thakur is actually a top bowler, but nowhere close to express pace. In fact, I feel Thakur is better suited to longer form cricket like Tests. He does really well in FC cricket. By the way, nobody is arguing against pace. It is brainless fast bowling and just blindly believing speed guns, which is being ridiculed here.

Neither anyone is saying Yadav Shami are great t20 bowlers. They both shouldn't even be picked for Indian t20 team. Only t20 specialist bowlers shou play t20. You need completely different set of skills for t20.

Bumrah....cant believe how much he has improved.

Yorker accuracy...best in the world.

Fast bouncer...among the best in world.

Swing....has both in and out.

Straight ball...saw 2 lbw one was robin and one more...balls were 144k 143k I guess.

Earlier used to bowl 133 to 142k primarily but now 118 to 146k...

Bumrah bowled wonderfully yet again

Such amazing accuracy most of the time , genuine pace of 137 k to 145 k with good bounce and consistent seam movement mostly into the right handed batters.

We all knew about his ability to great yorkers and good slower balls.

But, this Ranji season seems to have improved his good length bowling as well as his pace.
