Mad respect for him. I wish his dream of playing in front of his people could have been fulfilled but that wasn't to be because of the current conditions in Pakistan.

 

Great cricketer and one who actually played the game in great spirit and deserves respect from everyone.

I think his achievements are

 

- 2009 world cup. T20

- Taking Pakistan to being number 1 in test cricket (even though for a few months)

 

ODI tournaments have been disappointing there is no hiding that but I dont think he can be blamed for it as such. In the aftermath of the 2009 terror attacks and the 2010 match fixing , many had written off pakistan as a cricketing nation.

He had severe limitations as a batsman but made up with his attitude. He was the wall which prevented India whitewashing 3-0 in 2007 series. He simply batted on and on.Do not rate him much as a captain as he was too defensive. It is is easy to comment from outside but amount of scrutiny both India and Pakistan captains face after a defeat makes them defensive.

Misbah never lead Pakistan vs India in Any format,i guess.May 14 his last day in test, he already retired in Limited over format Long time ago.

I think his highest score was 96* in certain Format although he playing international since long time

Misbah retiring from international cricket, Mortaza from T20s - both are comparable - Admirable leaders and contributors for their team, mostly ordinary players at an individual level.

He will unretire in 4-6 months. It's this weird thing with Pakistani cricketers.  They enjoy retiring multiple times- more parties?? That and the fact that they reduce their real age by 1/4.

Dont forget the legacy of ur "ATGs"  humiliation in 2003 final and at the hands of bangladesh in 2007 world cup with having all ur fab 4s and 5s.Misbah took the test team to one number and he was the one who induced a life in lost contest in that 07 final
