Austin 3:!6 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 (edited) I said it during IPL that I cant wait to see our fast bowlers bowling in English conditions and today I was lucky to witness one of the best seam bowling spells. There was swing, pace, bounce...basically a complete attack. Never felt so proud of Indian fast bowling where all the 4 bowlers are bowling like champions. I give a lot of credit to Kohli as a skipper for this as well. Now with that brings the selection issue for sunday game. We cant play all 4 fast bowlers and have to pick 3 off them which is a very tough choice. Bhuvi and Bumrah are sure starters. I simply cant drop Yadav after today's spell. Shami has bowled beautifully but seems to be not completely fit. Hence I would rest him. Pandya will surely play as a seam bowling all rounder. I would drop Ashwin and play only Jadeja as spinner. It seems like Yuvraj Singh will not play the first game...hence he didnt bat today. So it will be Karthik at 4. CT is a short tourney with max of 5 games. It's not as if this is WC which will go for 2 months with a bunch of inconsequential games. Get in there who can actually contribute. Rahane is already a waste of space and with Yuvraj not 100% and out of form, we don't have any decent cover for an injury. beetle 1

Oldhere Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Based on what KOhli mentioned in the post match interview and also on management thought process, below team will play on Sunday: Dhawan Rohit Kohli Yuvi (if not fit then Kartik) MSD Jadhav Pandya Jadeja Ashwin Bumrah Shami/Yadav/Bhuvi Only way Ashwin might not play is if weather is cloudy as that is what Kohli mentioned in his post match where he said that Pitches will be flat except when its cloudy and hence, decision on Ashwin will be made on Sunday only.

And shami misses out as well. If kohli wants he can pick him in place of umesh/bumrah. Thoughts? Shami in place of Bhuvi.

Ultimate_Game Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 If it's a rain shortened match, or a T20, we are screwed coz likes of Shami and Umesh aren't the best T20 bowlers going around. Plus we don't have the hitters to go from ball one. I hope it's a 50 overs match else it's not going to be good for us.

Was Umesh bowling much faster than BHUVI/BUMRAH and Shammi. BY your eyes normally what was the sequence based on SPEED..was BHUVI still the Slowest out of the 4 or even compare Pandya. Umesh looked fastest to me on HD TV followed by Bumrah abnd Shammi and BHUVI were at similiar Speeds.
