Reminds me of how people thought the same about our attack going in for the 1999 world cup - Srinath, Prasad, Agarkar, Mohanty and Robin Singh We have a very good bowling attack. Bhuvi, Bumrah, Shami are good to very good.Pandya is decent for a fifth bowler and Umesh is erratic but when he gets it right most dangerous. Shami if fit should get in for Yadav.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Right from Kumble bhajji srinath onwards our bowlers respond very poorly to punishment. Zak and Nehra are only two bowlers who keep thinking despite punishment and try to comeback.
Asim Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Really surprised to see BK avg, he was quite good when started, was expecting him to have 27,28 ODI avg but man its almost 40...

Silva Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) Jadeja and Pandya are both 5th bowlers in limited overs cricket. once they get hit they have no plan B, they can only take wickets from pressure built up by other bowlers or if conditions favor their bowling type. this puts too much pressure on the 3 specialist pace bowlers. Going into the 37th over Bk and bumrahs economy rate was around 4 and yadavs was around 5 which isnt that bad considering it was a flat pitch but what killed india were the other bowlers that went for over 7 in over and gave up 138 runs. that finished the match before the 37th over. playing both of them as your 4th and 5th bowler is a high risk move that backfired, don't blame it on the main bowlers. bleaf27 Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 After seeing NZ lose to BD today , it just shows how Bowlers in general are over rated and helpless in cricket - whenever Batsman apply themselves - bowlers on the pitches nowadays do not have much to do. India scoring 300 against most of the teams isn't just an example of how good the Indian batting is but also how strong batsman are in general nowadays. Even if the 5th or 6th batsman in a side when applying themselves can stop the whole attack from another team - it shows how skewed the game is.
Asim Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 ind basically got a pool of somewhat similar type of 10,12 pace-ish bowlers, any randomly chosen 3,4 in playing 11 will do more or less the same... well considering this fact ind fans are probably right to think they got an unlimited amount of bench-strength and can deploy mutiple teams...

Indian seamers firstly are bowling high 130s and low 140s so if that's pace-ish ? What would you consider bowlers like Morkel , Hassan Ali , Southee etc. ? Dale Steyn , Malinga , Starc , Boult etc apart , who else do you think is any good then ? Bumrah - has a great ability to bowl in the death and yorkers - that's his USP Bhuvi - Can swing the bowl and bowls seam up - he sticks to his line When you feel you have a good bench strength - it isn't just bodies but players who have played on an international level and proven themselves at one time or another - With Shami , Umesh , Bhuvi , Bumrah , Ashwin , Jadeja , Kuldeep are all players that could be included in playing 11 hence a good bench strength. CG Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Bhuvi who is slowest of Indian bowlers clocked 145ks which is faster than most Pakistan Pacers. Sent from my BLN-L22 using Tapatalk Vilander and beetle 2

The whole middle overs were bowled by Jaddu, Pandya, Kohli and Jadhav whereas Umesh was "saved" for the death. Umesh should've bowled in the middle overs to try and get wkts. Plus singles were available till the last ball. In fact ganguly I think kept repeating bring in close in fielders. Also credit to lankan batsman they had a perfect game. Unlike our batting Our bowling works well as a unit rather than on individual brilliance. We still have a good bowling unit, so many mishits landed in no man land, pandya catch didn't stick. If just a few of those had gone our way it would have been a different game. Ultimate_Game 1

ThePhenomenal1 Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Shami was needed But its also about tactics. No slips, no fielders in to stop easy runs and build pressure. Defensive fields. Not using yadav in the middle overs to get wickets. Casual fielding. This is the best bowling attack in a long time. But needs aggressive backing and tactics. express bowling Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Our bowling unit is quite good. Bowlers can get hit on super-flat tracks in LOIs, no matter how good they are. Good bowling units have off days too. I think the issue was more of complacency after 3 great games, rather than a lack of quality. Nothing to worry about. Ultimate_Game Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Man for man this is the best bowling unit we've ever assembled for an ICC tourney. If someone like Shami and Ashwin are warming the bench that means the bowling attack isn't bad. But you still need to make sure you get the best out of your bowlers and use them to their strengths. As an example, Umesh's strength is that he's a wkt taker and thus needs to be bowled up front or in the middle overs. If you are saving most of his overs for slog overs, he's going to be rendered useless. Similarly you need to try and stop easy singles and change things up in the field if the match is not going your way. I'm sorry to say I didn't see anything in the field from us at all. CG and Lord 2
