Yep. And look at how long, fruitful careers both Sachin and Dravid had and look at where Akhtar ended up, far beneath his potential Kind of charts both country's future, cricket or otherwise, starting from around 2000s

Look at the delivery above. It shows 91 mph beating Sehwag for pace. Bumrah, Yadav, Shami all have bowled at that pace but the way Shoaib could beat batsmen for pace, our bowlers are not able to do that.

After the advent of T20 leagues, batsmen have become much more used to playing the stump directed quick ball.  They play it day in and day out.

At that time, it was not that common.

In tests he has faced 90 odd balls against Akhtar and made 114 runs.

To be honest, Akhtar was a pretty entertaining bowler and he spiced up cricket. Let's be honest and acknowledge that he brought back express bowling to world cricket and he forced people to start using 'Speed guns'.

I for one wouldnt vouch for his bowling action, but he did have an effect on batsmen. Just like@rkt.india quoted.

Ofcourse, Pakistanis go overboard about him.

Yes, even Dhoni hit Akhtar for runs in that 148 he scored at Faislabad. Scoring runs is a different thing. You can find a bowler difficult and can still score of him. A good batsman can do that and in tests, Sehwag faced him mostly on those pattas of 2006 Pak tour in Faislabad and Lahore. Those were graveyards for bowlers. We had a 410 run opening partnership between Sehwag and Dravid in that same series. Sehwag scored 254 in that game.

y'all such kids lmao. Why cant you guys accept good players for their talents and who they are. Not everything and every player needs to be judged through lens of nationality. Tbh, Akhtar was very entertaining to watch as a kid, it was fun watching him bowl with pace and swagger.
