In this thread, we are trying to gauge the batting ability of a person with 3 triple-hundreds in domestic cricket..... not whether he has barely done justice to the No.8 batting slot.

Are you happy with Jadeja, the test batsman  ?

Jadeja is not a batsman anymore. He is a bowling alrounder now. So nothing to be unhappy.

Jadeja has extraordinary natural gifts as a batsmen, I first realised this when India played Australia in Mohali (2013) and he did a lofted straight drive on the up to Peter Siddle who was bowling quick with reverse swing...we were in desperate need of runs quickly and were at risk of drawing test that we dominated throughout...Jadeja and Dhoni scored quick fire runs to see us through. So talent is not in doubt...but for some reason he's not consistent at  the international level. It's probably because he bats low down in the order and hasn't had a consistent run up the order to develop his game. If he plays county, he can bat up the order and really hone his skills.

First 50 of the season ....50 ....  Jadeja comes to bat with India 335 ahead in the 3rd innings and looking to declare.

2nd one... 90 ..... a good one

3rd one ..... 51 ..... Jadeja comes to bat when team 616  for 6

4th one ..... 60 .... Jadeja comes to bawhen India  569 for 6

5th one .... 54 ... Jadeja comes to bat when India 328 for 6 with a set Pujara at the other end

6th one .... 63 .... a very good one

7th  one .... 70 .... Jadeja comes to bat when when India 496 for 7

13 failures  in the season batting at No. 8 in most tests, which is a position where scoring big is possible as most of the time we are looking to score 600+.

Pandya and Jayant both have test centuries batting at No. 8 and No. 9.... in 3 tests each .... Jadeja has no test century in 32 tests.

He still has an acute issue with his off-stump deliveries

He still looks awkward against the short balls, even on slower pitches.

Yes.... 2 or 3 good knocks in 16 tests of in the season ..... from a batsman with 3 triple hundreds in domestic cricket ..... and we should be jumping up and down with joy  !!      :phehe:

amen to all that.

How the hell did he hit 3 300s?

How the hell is the no.1 spinner in the world?

How the hell is a player with middling talents with both bat and ball has had an incredible test success while it has not worked for him

in Limited overs cricket?

There is a lot of about Jadeja we cannot answer or understand...just take a seat and enjoy the ride with the enigma that is Sir Jadeja :hatsoff:

what the hell you guys going on about jaddu maximising his talent, the point is how his batting talent completely dissipates at intl level ,if someone is capable of such feats in domestic cricket,it has to manifest itself some point in intl cricket but no this guy is a bonafide tailender in intl cricket

Most likely it's a lack of application.

To be honest, off late, he has done really well with bat.

Against SA, he has batted very well with Saha to get those crucial runs. Those scores are not too high but in the contest of the game they are really really good...Dont forget. it was a low scoring series

jaddu has batted better than ashwin, but so has just about everyone
