this guy should be banned for atleast six months, infact ICC should step in and ban him from international cricket because we know the spineless poms wont do ti because of the precious ashes

what has this to do with ICC or cricket?  he may be a cricketer but it did not happen on a cricket field.

are you kidding me? these guys  are supposed to be role models for kids, imagine if Tendulkar had done the same thing.

Yes, they are in India, not anywhere else. They dont make their cricketers God. Morality obligations are different there. Stokes is no Tendulkar. Ever heard Tendulkar going nightclub? Imagine Kohli doing such thing and it won't be surprising because Kohli has a different reputation.

I think some time back few foreign cricket stars were caught in some rave party/club in Mumbai.

Cricket isnt as popular as fotie but role model thing is expected from most sportsperson who represent country in any arena.

Beckham/Giggs/linekar as some example

Ben Stokes charged with affray after nightclub incident

Quote

England cricketer Ben Stokes has been charged with affray over an incident outside a Bristol nightclub.

A disturbance in September left a man with a fractured eye socket and police sent their findings to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in November.

Stokes missed the Ashes series, with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) saying he would not be considered for England "until further notice".

The 26-year-old has been charged along with two men from Bristol.

A statement from the CPS said it received further material in late December.

"Following a review of all the available evidence, the CPS has today authorised the police to charge three men with affray in connection with the incident," it said.

"Ben Stokes, 26, Ryan Ali, 28, and Ryan Hale, 26, are all due to appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court on a date to be fixed in relation to this charge."

Cricketer Ben Stokes 'lost control' during nightclub fight, court told

England cricketer Ben Stokes "lost control" during a fight outside a nightclub, a court has heard.

The Durham all-rounder, who will miss the second Test against India at Lord's, denies affray after the alleged fracas in Bristol on 25 September 2017.

Two other men - Ryan Ali, 28, and Ryan Hale, 27 - have also denied charges of affray and are on trial at Bristol Crown Court alongside Mr Stokes.

The fight was "a sustained episode of significant violence", jurors heard.

Nicholas Corsellis, prosecuting, told the court Mr Stokes had "started to attack" Mr Ali and Mr Hale "with revenge, retaliation or punishment in mind".

He said: "He knocked Mr Hale unconscious and then - after time to pause for thought, to calm - he did exactly the same to Mr Ali."

Mr Corsellis described Mr Stokes's actions as "well beyond acting in self defence or defence of another".

An altercation took place in the Clifton Triangle area of the city just after 02:00 BST after the three defendants had left a nightclub, the prosecutor said.

The court heard Mr Ali had sustained "significant injuries", including a broken eye socket, after he was attacked.

Mr Corsellis told the jury a bottle was used at the beginning by Mr Ali, and a broken street sign brought into the fray towards the end by Mr Hale.

The defendants had been drinking in Mbargo nightclub, with the alleged incident taking place after it closed at 02:00, jurors heard.

Mr Stokes and his teammate Alex Hales left the nightclub at 00:46 but both returned at 02:08.

Bouncer Andrew Cunningham explained to the pair the club was closed and they would not be allowed in.

However, an "obviously upset" Mr Stokes became "aggressive" and insulted Mr Cunningham about his appearance, jurors heard.

Mr Cunningham said Mr Stokes's attention then turned to two "openly gay" men outside the venue.

He claimed the cricketer had mimicked their voices and mannerisms in what he described as "a derogatory way".

Mr Stokes, of Castle Eden, Durham, was arrested in the early hours along with Mr Ali, of Bristol, and Mr Hale, of Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol.

The alleged fracas took place several hours after England had played a one-day international against the West Indies at the city's County Ground.

The 2 men he beat up aren't the gay ones and it was the ECB that withdrew him from the ashes not the CPS.

Not the same guy is no excuse, He targeted individuals simply because they were gay.

When case came up initially, I felt sorry for him and thought he bumped in two unruly night out guys and may be just took it a bit too far  and blamed alchohol.

However, if two group avoided fight with him, and he still managed to loose Ashes, he shouldn't be pardoned that easy.

The only alleged incident of him targeting people for being gay so far has been claims he mocked a pair of gay men. The alleged incident was witnessed only by the bouncer he'd just previously insulted. The gay pair the bouncer claimed he mocked have come out since the incident and labelled Stokes a 'real hero".

That was pure Media misreporting that,  Stokes a Hero for standing up for two gay men.

However, evidence given in court court seems he was one troubling them.

He should be lucky to survive a prison term here.

BTW where is ICC/ECB moral and ethics commitee. This guys shouldn't be playing IPL either

Punching ex-army man, then punching a firefighter (both could be gay too), and now accusations of shouting homophobic abuse...not looking good for Stokes

Don't think he will play in rest of the series and maybe England career over, the homophobic abuse is no-no in today's age...England sponsors will pull-out in droves if Stokes play
