Umesh Yadav has regressed under Kohli

Some times you bring the best out of players by making competition for places. If your spot is guaranteed irrespective of performance, why bother to train and excel. Kohli is trying to bring meritocracy to Indian cricket, and does not ask anything of his players that he is not happy to do himself.

Its not the same old argument....credit to Dhoni IN ODIs for influencing Indian batsmen to be more attacking/dynamic than previous generations, for showing that wk/batsmen is viable career option indian cricket (because of his inspiration we have many better wk/batsmen than Dhoni), for improving our chasing in ODIs/r record/calmness in big tournaments. But Indian test cricket was sent back to the 1930s under Dhoni and he doesn't realise that his selfishness has tarnished what could have been a good legacy. People will continue to curse him post retirement for the damage he caused- I hope he enjoys those extra dollars because he sacrificed his izid for it

What competition and meritocracy you are talking about? He has captained 30 Test matches, how many new players he gave chance to? Yadav should have been persisted and if not Yadav, there are plenty of new and upcoming bowlers in the line. Players like Rahul keep on warming bench or get dropped for no fault of their own.

Regarding Dhoni, partially agree with you but that has been already discussed to death here so no point in going on and on about it. Just like everyone else, he had his good days and his bad days. I dont believe in legacy and selfishness and all. No one single person is responsible of any legacy n all.

KL Rahul is going through the worst demotivating strategy by Kohli. He is not even picked in ODIs. What worse can you do with such a talent.

Jayant and Karun - None of them were given a consistent run, both of them are already discarded. Do you think they or others like Iyer, Kuldeep, etc cannot be tried in Tests against minnows like SL, WI? Giving someone a chance and little consistency can improve a youngster's game and give them lot of confidence. We had chance to try lot of people before 2018 and we kept on playing Dhawan and Rohit. That is not meritocracy. Simple favouritism and short sightedness.

W. Saha - lol. He is a keeper who has been Dhoni's back up since years now. It has nothing to do with Kohli. However, Kohli should have been grooming Saha's backup, but again we see samson, pant, kishan, etc never getting selected as backups and we keep on going back to Parthiv and DK. I dunno how he is building confidence in anyone

He has some way to go in managing and grooming players.

Kohli didn't have power over every selection - not sure why dumbasses here keep attributing all selection calls to him. Kl Rahul has been targeted by higher powers : was dropped from Odis to satisfy Mumbai lobby and to protect dhoni (if kl performs well as he can wk too  he will show msd not to be indispensable). Kl Rahul plays for RCB and is picked regularly by Kohli there, in fact he found his six hitting form under Kohli captaincy. Doesn't make any sense as to why he won't prefer kl Rahul.

How many games has Saha played in total for India.? I'd be surprised if at least Ninety per cent of games were not under Kohli i.e. He's made his name in test cricket under Kohli. Karun nair was given more chances in tests and he flopped, he then didn't play well in a tours during this time. Jayant yadav, why would he play in games we don't need three spinners? He has to play ash and jaddu instead of kuldeep as they've been dropped from Odis and need game time before South Africa ....so you wanna end some of your ATG spinners career (by dropping them from tests series well as odis) just to give chance to a youngster? Crazy

in the year rohit got injured he was averaging fifty plus in tests... we should drop him as soon as he shows sign of improvement?

I think you are just looking for areas to bash Kohli on rather than concentrating on what's beneficial to Indian cricket

Ishant has already improved under virat ? His seam position has also improved ? How can I argue with that . May be we should try dinda and vinay as well next , with virat around who knows  ?

You are talking to a clownbot be careful... :hysterical:

Ishant Sharma was at his best in 2014 which was under Dhoni. Infact he was dropped later and rightly as he was being outperformed. I also cannot see what is different now or its just usual "Dhoni hai hai" post.

Though I agree Ishant and Yadav are pretty similar in terms of consistency, have no problem in one being picked over the other. They both can fulfill 3rd pacer's role.

Why you wasting your time on that clown.. You know his agenda

Shami and Ishant are also phaast

Bit obvious I mentioned greatest phasttt bowler Yadav in my opening post and how he was constantly dropped under Kohli than ever before

Added "Yadav" in title now, so it can be used in future... whenever he kicks him out like football:hysterical:

Same old argument about everything bad happened because of Dhoni, but if something good happened its because of others. Just like you blame Dhoni for not giving confidence to players, he should get the credit for developing careers of everyone in this current team including Kohli. Lets disagree and move on to the topic of Virat Kohli and his backing.

Fortunately a captain cannot spoon feed a batsman and ask him what shots to play. Unfortunately, a dominant captain can set fields for bowlers and ask them to bowl according to his whims and fancy. And also abuse them in public

Well looking at numbers till few series back, it appears that it's not just captaincy, but also the fielding which is destroying fast bowler

If you Love your holidays and get rid of your coach on grounds that coach is behaving like Principal if he rejects them and puts you back on training ground, You have no chance of of improving.

He just wont let anyone get bigger than brand Kohli and  never give a International cap to bats with potential. He is allready worried about mistake he made by giving chance to Pandya. So Pandya will be rested and re rested again and again till his performance drops.

lol...Shami, Bhuvi, Bumrah and Ishant have improved immeasurably under Kohli's leadership and some wishes to concentrate on the performance of one bowler. Talk about desperate agenda. If only these people retained a fraction of this spirt with analysing MSD's performance.

None of these guys are better under Virat .

Bumrah ? His bowling avg was 14 under Dhoni which has doubled to 26 Under Virat .

Bhuvi the big change is his increased pace and if you dig up old match threads , he was hitting 140+ 3 years back

Ishant has taken a grand total of 40 wickets in 19 test matches hes played under Virat and his bowling avg has nose dived to 36.43 from 37 thanks to the captains support .

Shami was hardly available for selection and has always been good when he played .

Yaadav ? read OP .

if anything some of them have regressed inspite of having bowled very little against good opposition on flat pitches . All their stats looks respectable thanks to SL .

Yes, Shami played very little test cricket under Dhoni.
