The Mayank Agarwal Juggernaut

Recommended Posts

Difficult to break into Indian LOIs as an opening batsman at this point of time.

Rohit, Dhawan .... Rahul and Rahane as back ups .... though most of us believe Rahane should be out of LOI teams.

Ironically, Mayank has better chance to break into the test team, though he looks more suited to LOI in terms or technique and stroke making. Mainly because there's a chance that Vijay may reach end of his career soon 'coz of form/fitness and Dhawan may also get dropped if he has a terrible series or two. And Abhinav Mukund has fallen off the radar in the recent times.

This volume of runs is not a joke . Need to see him in india colours , good be someone who can deliver

watching him bat I don’t see major flaws looks technically sound

sad that ipl will decide player picks . As his runs come in ranji and vijay. Not t20 format

And people get excited  here for new u-19 sensation who performed against other u-19 players. Our best picks in the test team are from domestic workhorses - Dravid, VVSL, etc.

One thing Sehwag and dhawans success on sub continental pitches proves is that if you have good hands you will more than make up for lack of tight defence or footwork stuff. Mayank could be another guy who can score those daddy hundreds with strikerate in 80s. How he fares overseas is a different thing altogether.

Totally . So stupid . Under 19 World Cup standard was not even close to fc standard

players like Agarwal showing real class in best standard below international cricket . Under 19 boys also need to show this in fc cricket

this guy could be special . His numbers are very special this year

I also think 27 is great age to start playing international cricket

you know your game after years on fc circuit but not too old . Surely next odi series we have should be in?

this volume of runs can’t be ignored . Must have something?

looks like you are happy to see pant after 2023 WC :phehe:

Mayank scores in Vijay Hazare - 109, 84, 28, 102, 89, 140,81, 90

7 80+ scores out of 8 innings with 3 100s

Also doesn't seem to lower the gear in 80s, 90s to get to his 100. Ideal temperament for 50 over cricket.  Sehwag like.

Some posters here r ridiculous, this kid has a proper technique is organised, plays all around ,moves forward well, back n across, drives, cut, back, front foot, also is a maverick plays some Laxmanesque shots, for me he could be a great find.

he is 27 so not a kid. he also is an opener. in test we have vijay/rahul/dhawan and in limited overs we have rohit/dhawan/rahual/rahane. Where is the place for Mayank ?

Rohit a middle order batsmen and who was a complete failure , opens now . Rahane an opener still regularly finds himself playing in the middle order  . Mayank though in spite of having arguablyarguably  the best domestic season any batsmen has had ever , can't be accommodated ?

Am still not completely sold on Mayank , always rated him for his amazing timing and think he's very gifted , but it's tough to tell if that talent/gift is enough to score at international level , but then when you score like the way he's done it deserves a shot at Indian team and few games to prove himself . Seriously what else do players in domestic have to do ?
