Well,

I was thinking about Lyon and how good a spinner he is....

May be is a very good spinner right now considering all the conditions....

Say Ashwin, he is very good in sub-continent conditions but very average in England and Australia.....but Lyon is good pretty much everywhere...

Is Lyon the best visiting spinner of India?

If you are talking about visiting spinners, there have been Saqlain Mushtaq, who had a brilliant series in 1999. He also did very well overseas. Saqlain averaged 34 in Australia, 25 in England and 30 in NZ. Greame Swann is another fantastic spinner who visited India and had a great series in 2012. So no I don't think Lyon is the best visiting spinner. But Lyon surely is one of the best finger spinners in last 2 decades.

Garam Swann the best antarashtriya firki gendbaaz.

P.S. But I also believe that Swann was lucky to bowl to an Indian batting line up past it's prime, Murali and Warne were very unlucky that they ran into Sehwag and Laxman at their prime.

But he was a chucker. Even 2011-2014 Ajmal would have given us trouble purely because of chucking.

Lolwut? SRT, Azhar, Laxman, Ganguly were all excellent against spin. Even Dravid was pretty good without being dominant.

Well Saqlain was the only one who seemed to bowl the doosra without chucking.

only when pitch was flat. these are same batsmen who could not play Nicky Boje and Shaun Udal.

That was not because they were poor against spinners on spinning tracks.Fab4 were very poor in handling pressure. If they were put under pressure they would crack.

Aussies on other hand were tough as nails and could handle pressure far better.

Monty and swann were really lucky in 2012 they did not run in against prime Sehwag as I truly believe he is the best player of spin I have seen.

when ball turns or swings, everyone struggles.  Just extent differs.

that extent is what differentiates between great and so so player. They failed against Udal or Boje or even Afridi but that does not make them bad players of spin on turning tracks.

In their era they were the best players of spin other than Lara ,I don't think they were any better players of spin than them on any track.

I see. In that case Lara is an over-rated player of spin as he couldn't play Raju. And Ponting is an over-rated player of pace as he couldn't play Ishant Sharma!
