Experts Help Me- In Cricket is Bowling Offense or Defense

I have always been intrigued by this one. Would you classify bowling as offense or defnse in cricket. Similarly batting can be classifies as offense or defense. We have plenty of experts who have played at higher level (unlike me a galli lavel) who can help me understad this.

 

I think I would classify it as defense but what say you.

When you have bowlers like unadcut, Vinnu the great kumar, mohit sharma etc. its  defence .

When you have bowlers like bumrah shami umesh bhuvi etc. its  offense.

In tests it is definitely offense because unless you take 20 wickets you aren't winning the match, no matter how much you score. In certain situations when time becomes a factor it is defense eg Jo'burg test in 2013 when bowling helped us save the match in the final session. 

 

In T20s and ODIs it is mostly defense but in low scoring matches where you have to get the opponent all out to win the match, it is offense eg CWC 1983 finals, had we not bowled WI out no way were we defending 183 in 60 overs !!!

 but he is no all allrounder... He runs phasttttly from boundary to bowl. No "offense" khota..

Offense. "Bowling attack" is the term used to describe the bowlers.
