fineleg Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) What are the BEST difficult situation knocks in ODIs of VK and RS ? (Not in terms of runs alone, but taking into account match-pressure situation, opposition bowling quality (reasonably good), and maybe slightly favorable to bowlers pitch or weather conditions). Could you list a few? This 200* of RS is one of that - that can be listed. SL is not quality bowling attack but Lakmal reasonably good and slightly favorable to bowlers at start - conditions, and series leveler (yea yea SL only but still). This is one such for RS, any others for RS and similar for VK? Edited December 13, 2017 by fineleg

In this regard, Kohli easily passes him even if stats doesn't show much difference. For example, after calling Amir an ordinary bowler, he had opportunity to prove it but he gave reason to padosis to lay into him after getting out in humiliating fashion. In 2015 world cup semis he had opportunity to take charge of the chase but he didn't, in CT final wanted him to play things out and not expose kohli to new ball when opposition's bowlers tails were up, in many such moments when team wants him to come good, he failed to deliver yet he is a player any team wish to have as without him scoring, we wouldn't be in that position so it's all good but he is definitely a rung below Kohli. Yes exactly. Ex - 1. Carlton series in Aus 2015 Indian team struggled against pacers, Starc took 6-fer in one match and England bowled out India for 150s and 200 against Eng, scored 267 against Aus. Kohli scored vital 24 runs in 4 matches, while Rohit Sharma was hiding behind with a score of 138 against rampaging Starc. 2. World Cup 2015 Quartner final: Rohit Sharma scored useless 130 runs while Kohli scored vital 3 runs. Semi final: Rohit Sharma scored boring 34 runs, while king of chases scored probably best inning of 1 run. That most crucial breathtaking 1 run was best inning in history of cricket. 3. Lost series against Bangladesh Kohli tried very hard to save the series by scoring massive 49 runs in 3 matches at avg of 16, only if Rohit hadn't sucked so much by scoring 93 at avg of 30 in those matches. First match in which Rohit Sharma scored paltry 60 odd while chasing. 4. Lost series against SA India lost home series against SA. First match by 5 runs. Rohit could manage meagre 150 runs against Steyn, Rabada and Morkel, while greatest chaser in history scored huge score of 11 runs, only if Rohit hadn't got out so cheaply and helped Kohli to win match for India. 3rd ODI : Again India were chasing and while Kohli blazed 77 runs at SR of 77, tuk tuk Rohit scored 65 run at SR of 87 causing loss by 18 runs. Kohli did blunt the effect of Rohit Sharma by playing a match winning knock in 4th ODI. Series Decider - whole team choked 5. Lost series in Aus 2016 After great success against lalloo bowlers like Starc, Cummins and Anderson, Kohli faced ATG bowlers like Joel Paris, Kane Richardson, Boland and scores were like Kohli Rohit 91 171 59 124 117 6 106 41 India lost all 4 matches, some while chasing too. Won last game while chasing as the match winner scored 8 runs while Rohit scored just 99 Dunno why dumb guys selected Rohit Sharma as MoS. 6. Home series against NZ Series decider last match Rohit 70(65) Kohli 65(76) 7. Champions Trophy 2017 1st match Rohit 91(107) Kohli 81(68) 2nd Match Rohit 78 Kohli 0 3rd Match - Semi final Rohit 123 Kohli 96 MoM - Rohit Final while chasing Rohit 0 that too after being given lifeline on previous ball Kohli 5 runs Clearly Kohli is more consistent, greatest chaser and performs in important matches against great teams and great bowlers, while Rohit chokes, plays only on flat pitches and against weak attacks. And current series 8. SL 2017 Rohit could score only 200 on flat pitch against weak attack. New guy, Nonbeliever, Gollum and 4 others 5 1 1

Gollum Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 @Trichromatic great couple of posts, you have opened my eyes. Before you posted I would have put Kohli marginally ahead, now I'll put Rohit marginally ahead.
sergio04 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 rohit sharma is actually more clutch player than vk in odi i never knew before
Vk1 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Whoever helps in winning the worldcup will become the knight.

It's compliment for someone like Rohit to be compared to Kohli who is bonafide ATG. The innings you listed how many of those innings resulted in win for the team against top 6 nations. I will have no qualms in accepting that he is better than kohli if stats prove otherwise to what I said. Edited December 17, 2017 by Scar grammar
