I like Rohit a lot but he never show up when we need him a lot or have to walk the talk. In this regard, Kohli easily passes him even if stats doesn't show much difference. For example, after calling Amir an ordinary bowler, he had opportunity to prove it but he gave reason to padosis to lay into him after getting out in humiliating fashion. In 2015 world cup semis he had opportunity to take charge of the chase but he didn't, in CT final wanted him to play things out and not expose kohli to new ball when opposition's bowlers tails were up, in many such moments when team wants him to come good, he failed to deliver yet he is a player any team wish to have as without him scoring, we wouldn't be in that position so it's all good but he is definitely a rung below Kohli.

Can you please list all innings where Kohli showed up in important situations in ODIS.

Please don't quote T20 innings. I am very well aware of them.

Rohit should be given the credit for being a top performer in ODI’s in the last few years. It is easy to say flat track but it really wasn’t a flat track. And even if it was  if hitting 200 was so easy many players would have scored by now in the last 5-6 years when the game is seeing a lot of runs being scored. Only couple of guys have got to this feat who are still playing - Rohit, Gayle and Guptill.

Kohli is much more consistent than Rohit. He is more disciplined and a match winner on a consistent basis. Fitness is much more supreme than Rohit too. Virat has been consistent since his debut and was only dropped once (didn't even get chance in his last series before he was dropped vs Eng 2008). Rohit was in and out of the ODI side till 2013 CT, since then he has really picked up. But his test form remains patchy and still he's in and out of the test side for whatever reasons.

Except Aus, Rohit hasn't been reliable in either NZ, England,SA and considered not trustworthy enough thanks to his technique. But Kohli has proved himself everywhere in each and every format, only in tests in England against the moving ball he was badly exposed.

 

Though the above stats in last 3 years are quite close, I'd always back Virat.

Rohit Did Score 90 Odd Against Pak In First Match.He Got A Good One from Amir In Finals.Even In WC Semifinal he got a good start 30 odd but Johnson bowled a peach.

I feel Kohli is super consistent, while Rohit is more boom or bust. Rohit scores big when he gets going or else he will suck badly. Kohli plays 1 or 2 down, so would have very less chance to score big daddy hundreds like Rohit. And there is no competition for Kohli the chaser. He is just brilliant in chases which Rohit isnt.

So overall Kohli slightly better than Rohit. But its awesome to have 2 good batsman in the side. Hope they can win us games for next 2 years everywhere.
