Rohit Sharma is the Best Captain India will never have.

Two big losses which were totally unexpected. Even if we consider captaincy is big problem for these losses and think rohit, kohli will go post 2022 t20 worldcup, i just can't see any players good enough to replace them as batsman and consistently perform to win matches against quality side. Before asia cup began i though our middle order is much stronger and top order is pretty weak but performance has shown other way around. Pant has already played 56 matches, Surya, Pandya too are quite experienced and Hooda has got fair chance but no one is able to consistently perform in middle order. Pandya either has great match with both bat & bowl or pretty bad one with both. Not sure if i see much improvements even after rohit and kohli retiring cause we just don't have good enough talent for this format. We will still keep winning bilateral series though.

Another one who flattered to deceive, big time. Enjoyed success with match-winner packed MI team but failed to earn wins when the same team got weaker. Failed to make a single inspired decision this world cup nor could he play a captain's innings in games that mattered. Embarrassed himself and frustrated fans by eating up nearly 25% of the designated deliveries in the innings for a measly, less than run a ball score. Hasn't had the decency to tender his resignation from the format.

You had to give him captaincy when he was at his peak in batting, fitness and getting trophy in ipl. You gave him when his decline started + age, fitness was not on his side. He would have been pretty good limited overs captain if was selected post 2015 worldcup. His time is gone and now he must retire from all formats soon.  Now they should plan everything when selecting next captain.

He could be worse than what some may have imagined.

If under him, things have not changed in terms of bowling and batting approach, its possible a change was pushed around the Dubai World T20 time and Rohit , Rahul may have felt the pressure of missing out. Hence the probable revolt and the change in guard.

No points for guessing who may have been pushing that change. He may have been trying to solve the problem and wasn't allowed to do so.
