First Impression of Rohit's captaincy :

Proactive, Engaging, Attacking, Conduct, Aggressive Field Setting, Great Bowling Changes, Spot on Team Selection. Managing the troops out in field, Post Match Presentation speech, the insights of the game. Its a shame that Rohits Captaincy career will never take off as it clashes with Virat's Legacy.

 

But on sheer captaincy and skill level, Rohit seems to be way ahead of everyone, even MSD.

Definitely worthy of captaincy. His understanding of the game and situation seems to be sound. That itself is a step over Kohli. Hope we change captain in T20s first and then in ODIs after WC.

I bet any captain including Kohli or Dhoni or anyone would have lost that match once you lost the toss and had to bat first in those conditions up in the mountains.

Also did you people observe .. never once did the team keep looking at dhoni for instructions. Rohit Sharma was very much the alpha out there in the middle. He was giving instructions about field placements and bowling changes and not dhoni. 

 

Rohit Sharma has the air of a strategist who knows what to do when plan a fails. This is also observed in the IPL. He is so sure about his decisions.

 

Better hand over project 2020 T20WC to him..

Don’t want to make this a Kohli vs Rohit thing but so did Kohli infact failed to defend 300+ runs where that pitch where Rohit lost as you yourself said was a disgrace.

 

Kohli is the best test captain we had for a while However Rohit seemed more in control than Kohli in LoI’s which most have noticed...Kohli literally fields in deep midwicket and does nothing where as Sure  still Dhoni might be given some leeway but Rohit clearly looks more involved.

Rohit is a gun playa in ODI but this is extreme calling him underrated, rohit hype emanating from sanju/sunny rears alone is more than the whole Australian fast bowling hype in all of the ashes test series ever played on earth just for a comparison.

Anyway kohli's honeymoon period both literally and metaphorically will come to an end this year. He covered up the CT failure with gestures of friendship with Pakistanis. Let's see what he does in the next 2 years until 2019wc. If he does well then good and that's what we should all hope for..

Fully agree with op, he made freebie like dhoni perform that itself is enough, otherwise it was eat sleep choke repeat for dhoni under kohli.
