Can't believe we have to go back to Ishant/Umesh again

this is the thing, the cold hard fact is..are there better bowlers ?

Umesh did better than everyone in IPL ( i know its a different game), but his pace and swing seems to be back. Ishant is not doing badly in Eng at the moment, so the big question is can someone liek saini or Ankit be better than them..

Shami was distracted during the SA 2018 series due to the brewing troubles with his wife.

i have watched shami countless times in aus in 2015 test  seies going for 5-6 runs and over with short and wide cut shots ,wasting new ball.....watched him in england 2014 series too bowling short and wide and then on pads for 3 test matches.....as i have said , u are too impressionable by speed gun, that's why u can see his abject performances with new ball......will quote this post once again ,if shami goes for thrashing with new ball.

Shami is done for in Test Cricket. He's been extremely inconsistent in SA even though he had a favorable conditions for his bowling style. This was the right time to introduce a new young bowler who can swing the ball at good pace.

Bumrah, Shami and Umesh are similar kind of bowlers who are more suited to bowl on SA/AUS wickets. Unless Ishant gets a chance and perform really well, I don't see us winning this. We need someone to complement Kumar at the other end.

I'm just hoping our batting puts up 500-600 every inning so we don't have to think about who's bowling. At very least we can secure draws this way. Deciding about which fast bowlers to pick for our team is like deciding which part of body you want to get injection in, no matter what you choose the outcome will be painful.

We need a strong seam and swing attack. Even 130kph balls can be a handful in England if he can swing.

Don't be upset you already have strongest and fastest bowling attack in the universe likes of Buvi,Bumrah,Ishanth,Umesh,Shami :cantstop:

They will blast the fragile England :cantstop:

Shami debuted in test matches in November 2013.  He played the England tests in July 2014 and Australia tests in Dec 2014 and Jan 2015.  That means he was a rookie test pacer then. Moreover, the team was in deep turmoil with no one to guide rookies.  Players should not be judged by their performances in their first 12 to 18 months.

The speedgun logic does not hold because apart from Bhuvi,  all Team India pacers and new pacers in line for a test callup,  are as quick or quicker than Shami.  I will choose Shami over a quicker pacer ...  because he has the lowest bowling average among Indian pacers in the history of test cricket (  among pacers who have played 25+ tests. )

There will be either 3 or 4 pacers in the team.  Shami does not have to be given the new ball.

Test cricket is played only 10 overs per innings with the new ball and 70 overs per innings with the older ball.

As I said before, the team management need to assess his mental state.  Is he focused on cricket or is he still distracted regarding the issues with his wife. You cannot play a distracted cricketer.

But, if he is focused on cricket and fit , Shami will be my first pick in test cricket over quicker pacers even.

And how many instances are there of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav gone wrong  ?   Perhaps too many to count.

Bhuvi and Shami have the lowest averages and SRs and Bumrah has made a strong start to his test  career.  They will be my first 3 picks. I will add Umesh based on current form and play 4 pacers.

Bumrah should share the new ball with Bhuvi. Umesh and Shami should make the other 2 Pacers.

Bumrah would pick up a few injuries with his action if he keeps playing tests. And I don't think he will be that effective with the new ball. My first pick would be Bhuvi, Shami, Ashwin and Kuldeep with Hardik bowling as the fifth bowler. The English struggle against spin and mostly wrist spin. Wrist spin can even work under English conditions provided Kuldeep can the control the ball.

Going by the current form We should open the bowling with umesh and bhuvi, both of them can swing and seam it from fuller side of good length with new ball at good pace, bumrah can come as first change with ashwin and hapa depending upon conditions and situation of the match.

umesh will defintely play ahead of shami......likh ke le le.

kohli was mighty impressed with umesh in ipl .....

shami in his wicket wicket haul got - 2 inside edges...+3 tailenders.......don't think he impressed kohli with his performance.

shami in 1st innings averaged 80+ in saf on helpful wickets in 6 innings .....

Bumrah has already played FC for last 5-6 years and has been pretty injury free.
