That wont be the case in tests at home where he will get turning tracks. Overseas, even Ashwin has not done anything great. Ashwin needs more chances as of now, he did decent in Sa...hadnt it been for dropped catches his figures wud have looked diff Lets not forget in most test batsman didnt give runs on board to ashwin overseas, dhoni wasnt even a good captain to have overseas in test to As Ganguly once said, kumble always said give me 500-600 runs on board ill wind u games. Even heard in a recent interview from sanga saying same for murali. Ashwin got 300 runs most times, so he deserves that time. Also ashwin offers with bat n experience on field which chahal wudnt Pujara hasnt done gr8 in overseas yet we persist with him UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Temujin Khaghan
Jadeja's mindset in test cricket is good. He bowls a boring length and uses the wrong un as a surprise. Whereas Ashwin scares the captain by trying too many things when things don't go his way. Jadeja is no.2 in test ratings for a reason. He has the discipline for test cricket though lacks the ability of Ashwin or Kuldeep. Link to comment

Exactly correct...kuldeep is a Mystery china man and Chahal is a Straight leg spinner .. ONE Spinner is a BIG Headache for opponents and the other guy is just a regular Spin challenge... Huge Difference... Link to comment
sensible-indian
Not sure if you guys are following this but Ashwin's new delivery is a killer. It's a carrom ball bowled with an offspinner's action. He did pick up a wicket using that in the Afghanistan test. I think being out of the team and a lacklustre IPL has knocked sense into him as far as LOI bowling is concerned. He has gone back to the old action using as much body into his delivery as he can. Needs to be out of the LOI team for a while longer and perform his way back into the side. With this new delivery that aligns with his core action, he has a chance to become the 3rd spinner for India in LOIs sometime in the future. Got a good start in TNPL picking up 5 wickets in 2 games. Needs to focus on accuracy and practice flighting more in LOI. I think his carroms will confuse English bats this summer. Edited July 14, 2018 by sensible-indian UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

For more wickets, check TNPL replays. All his 5 wickets (right handers) were from carrom I think. Mosher 1 Link to comment

Woh sab toh theek hai but does he have a decent stock ball that pitches outside off and hits off and middle? His leg stump line against the RHBs in SA was terrible to watch. Link to comment

Then you take a call based on performance. If Kuldeep is unplayable in warm ups, then pick your best 2 spinners. If the 5th bowler is Hardik then it won't be possible to play 2 spinners in test matches in England. The pitches are expected to be more pacer-friendly and 3 front-line fast bowlers will definitely be needed. If we play 5 specialist bowlers ... and the pitch is expected to aid spinners in the later stages and 2 spinners are chosen ... then I would pick Kuldeep Yadav as one of the spinners, because most batters are unable to read him. adi B and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1 Link to comment

Performed on super flat tracks. Ideally we should make all 3 spinners play warm ups and picked based on performance. He did that at home, not in England. Even Ashwin will be useless here in tests. Pitches will be completely different in Tests. Quote My ideal choice is 5 bowlers with both Ash and Jaddu for first 2 tests. Then you take a call based on performance. Trichromatic
Ashwin, Bhuvi, and Karthik can be no 6, 7 and 8 (not in particular order). Bumrah, Shami and kuldeep remaining 3 UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

R.D forever
Terribly unfair to Ashwin if chahal is picked. FFS at least try him first overseas. He was much better in SA this time and has county experience too. Can't believe some ppl simply say that he is bad overseas based on his record 5 yrs ago and that too with Dhoni as captain .. MCcricket
A captain has to be crazy not to include Kuldeep in the test side, he is a wrist spinner so can turn the ball on most decks , plus he is a Chinaman bowler which is rare, he has skills, range and is mentally strong, I would choose him first in the team as a bowler, Ashwin to me is valuable in tests, he has been bowling well since SA, he bats very well and has the stats to show. Jadeja is a regular kinda bowler who doesn't turn much but is accurate and if the wkt ain't helping him he is not as effective, Personally for balance sake I would love to have K Yadav, Bumrah, Pandya,Bhuvi Ashwin if we play Pandya as an all rounder, Ashwin is as good and BK can bat..
