"After I joined the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni advised me that I need to avoid reading the newspapers and should try to stay away from social media as much as possible," the 23-year-old right-hander from Mumbai said.
"Social media has become a big part of our lives and I try to manage it well but it's the criticism that motivates me and keeps me going."

Adding further on how he handled the attention he receives from his fans, Shreyas recalled how a girl's behaviour, whom he knew from before, changed after the news on him being picked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was out.

He shared: "Soon after the auction news was out, this girl whom I knew started messaging me. On confronting her as to why she is desperately trying to reach out, I got to know that she was doing so because she was happy for me.

"That's when I understood that rather than getting to know me, she was behind the money."

@UrmiSinhaRay any views on this :giggle:.

Shreyas Iyer is the Luv Ranjan with a cricket bat.
Jokes apart, this incident is partially true because who let's a potential millionaire off hands when is sooo near you!!
Even I would've if I got the chance.
But I get that Iyer really gets a kick when he talks about girls trying to gold dig him.

This story is of 2015 when he played his first season for DD.

Honestly Iyer should try his hand writing a book about how to spot gold diggers and stay away from them.
Because he is not gonna make it big in cricket regardless how much Bunty+Mumbai Lobby+Dravid pushes him.
Lmaoooo

I think his agent Bunty might have a different opinion regarding social media  than Dhoni.

Bunty is the Reshma Shetty of Cricket.
He has been good for Kohli doesn't necessarily mean he is good for everybody else.
At least Reshma has a good strategy despite her messing up her recent work due to her concentrating on ruining Sallu's career.
However, Bunty is pretty unidimensional when it comes to business strategy.
He pushes his clients extra hard to the point it becomes annoying and cringe worthy .Also don't necessarily care about crafting their image in a proper and believable way.
No wonder people secretly hates Kohli and his market value is plummeting.
Kl Rahul got a pretty negative reception in terms of being a brand ambassador.
In a market which is slowly closing itself and you need to work extra hard to impress people apart from being an actor/cricketer , I don't think Bunty is a good PR agent though his mafia connections certainly is helpful.
rahul Dravid has the best PR followed by MS Dhoni.

He did well in 2015 then flopped badly with 0,1,0 in 2016 and was dropped.
And now back as captain.
To be honest, despite being a good Domestic Player and having 1-2 good IPL season, I don't think he will make it big.
He is the 2nd coming of Maggie Sharma.
If Dravid really thinks he can be the next Team India captain, then he surely lacks some common sense.
Iyer is not even a street smart guy with great strategies like Phony or even Maggie that he can be a specialist captain.

He is so immature. Keep harping on the same thing.

You are right. He is the Luv Ranjan ( who the hell named him love...) of cricket.

He should be mature enough to understand that this is the way things are.

The girls run after him because he is now a famous cricketer.....the same way the cricketers are aiming for film stars , because they are filmstars....and not ordinary girls.

He sounds utterly insecure, underconfident and bitter about his natural ability about securing women.
Likely him studying in a Boy's school affected his mental development.
Everybody has this kind of incidents - and when you are rich and successful, you will constantly have moochers hanging around you.
Everybody has.
Good thing that he identified a moocher and didn't fall into her trap-but why repeat the same stuff again and again like a broken tape recorder?
He should focus on being a good cricketer and be known for his performance, not getting a PhD on "101 ways to spot a golddigger".
He will be on his way to become the next big meme material if he repeats this **** again. It is fast becoming his catchphrase and identity.
I seriously suspect that Iyer gets a massive kick from the idea that a girl propositioned him and he rejected it-years after facing the opposite.
It is his biggest achievement.
And TBH, he comes off as the awkward yet condescending Tam Brahm Bhaiya who wants to get a gf but can't because he doesn't have the swag plus parents won't approve of him breaking his culture codes.

It is not Love , Luv - as in Luv-Kush.
I have seen all of his films-except SKTKS and while they are enjoyable, they all have the same storyline and same moral-Girls are Dangerous, Girls are Immoral, Girls will loot your money and make your life hell, better stick with your bros who are the best invention in the world after a Homo Erectus invented Fire.
