express bowling Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 His wicket keeping should determine his place in the test team. In test matches, a couple of drops by the keeper can be very costly. If he keeps well, he deserves all 5 games. If he keeps poorly, he should go. UrmiSinhaRay, Gollum, Mosher and 1 other 1 3
rtmohanlal Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Only fixed change in the nest 2 tests need to be Dhawan.Replace him with Pant .Based on conditions Umesh for Kuldeep. That's all. Constant changing does not do any good. UrmiSinhaRay 1

Anyway he is also a better batsman than DK with a 100 outside Asia on a spicy pitch. If you think Saha would have survived 10 balls on these pitches, you kidding me. Keeping yeah he's better than DK, but let's keep it real about his batting. We need to start looking beyond this mediocrcy. Try some youngsters. Frustrated, UrmiSinhaRay and Shunya 1 2

Saha is a better batsman than current Karthik (don't quote the 2007 series, that's ancient history). He scored twin 50s on an Eden greentop, pretty sure he would have survived more than 10 balls here. Besides with him as keeper (no Dhawan at 1st slip) we would have chased <150 here and Saha would have scored 15-20 runs in each innings to set up a win. He is no Gilchrist but he averages more with more 100s than the likes of Karthik/PP, has a 100 outside Asia (Dhoni ) and MOM for his test batting performance. You don't need to look good or elegant to survive on these pitches...grit (+ some luck) will do, something severely lacking in our so called technique masters and next gen superstars. I agree we need to try out Pant, don't care about the state of his keeping. My dog will do a better job keeping than hacks like Karthik/PP behind the stumps. Just hope Pant has more spine and self esteem than someone as prodigiously talented as KL Rahul. abc and express bowling 1 1

He may not be world class or special but he can definitely grit it out. DK is impulsive batsman. He will play the most stupidest shot out of nowhere. His career never took off due to this. express bowling and abc 2

Grit doesn't do jack against the moving ball in the middle, Saha wouldn't survive 50 balls over 2 innings in this game. UrmiSinhaRay 1

Straight Drive Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 We have five threads now. One wants Ajinkya to be dropped, second wants Rahul to be dropped, third against Shikhar, 4th against Vijay and now this 5th against DK. Agreed they all have been crap in SA and England and are clueless on a wicket or conditions which are not favorable for batting. I dont think we have a Sachin, Rahul, VVS or Saurav on bench. This is the best we got. I would not tweak the team much even though 5 batsmen are flopping. The alternatives are not there for similar conditions. I do see a point that we cannot say newbies wont succeed in similar conditions. But we can only try one or two new faces every game. Wholesale changes of dropping the 5 flops players won't help. saik, The Dark Horse and UrmiSinhaRay 1 2
CG Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Dk is a decent test batsman but a poor keeper his keeping might cost much more than what we can gain by 20 runs of his batting.Pant might not score much but he is a good keeper and a left-hander . UrmiSinhaRay 1
vvvslaxman Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Ironically both Parthiv, KKD made their international debut in England. May be Pant to make debut there as well? UrmiSinhaRay 1
