• AR, Pandya, raised his game. Shami and Pandya were the best bowlers today 

 

Would India have benefitted from playing another seamer - Yadav or Shardul, in place of one of the two spinners? In the overall scheme of things, I do not think that it would have made a dramatic difference considering how hot or cold the bowlers tend to be. The 3rd seamer could have bowled worse than Ishant. Someone like Bhuvi or Bumrah may have made a positive impact though in partnership with Shami and Pandya 

 

As for Kuldeep, it would be a great learning experience for him. I do not have huge confidence in Ashwin and Jadeja to be spinners who can perform in most conditions on a consistent basis. Kuldeep can be developed as a spinner for most conditions. Shane Warne was carted in his first test too. As long as Kuldeep learns from the experience, it is ok  

 

However, the performance shows the need to pick the 5 best batsmen + 4 best bowlers + best WK option. These slots have to be optimized based on conditions and form

Considering the inconsistency of many of our players in overseas conditions, one option is to drop the one who performs so the guy who had a bad game can be hot in the next game and so on

so to make up for batsmen shortcomings, Kohli and Shastri bring in mystery spinner Kuldeep, so they can bowl out England (play two spinners in overcast conditions at Lords ) even more cheaply than 1st Test so less load on the pathetic batsmen 

 

once again you couldn’t make it up with these retards picking players based on cliche tactics (oh England can’t play spin, oh we need Ishant for height) even Sky commies were laughing at India picking 2 spinners when all know of weather conditions for next 4 days

Apart from Pujara, the specialist batsmen - Vijay, Rahul, Ranahe and Kohli, have let Ind down. Karthik should not have been in the 11 ahead of Pant anyways
