Still can't fathom the logic behind Root's decision, overconfidence? Or does ECB want a competitive test series? They have surrendered their pre-game advantage, LOL it's a bat 1st, win the match scenario.

Foolish decision by Root, wanted us to bat 1st anyway, 1-2 incoming :isalute:

Overcast conditions tomorrow with chances of rain, get to 250 and watch them squirm. Brown and dry grass on the wicket, so pitch will turn later on. I can't believe Root's stupidity :hysterical:, what a blunder !!!!!

Just wait and see how our team crumble. Then your all khayali pulav will be tarnish.brace yourself for another  100 score

Not necessarily, fresh pitch will swing more than other days. Hope India bats well, else no advantage.

Seam you mean. Tomorrow it will seam and swing, I pity the team that bats tomorrow. Also the team that bats last because it will seam and swing and spin.

Be positive man, we got what we wanted here, just need to apply and play ugly, gritty cricket to get close to 250. Don't be surprised if it is England that gets a sub 100 score tomorrow.

Really? The team couldn't bat a day figuratively in last test match ,so he is just trying to take advantage of a uncertain batting likeup low in confidence

You can see why he is bullish about bowling here

Uncertain batting line up with low confidence wouldn't have chased above 125 in 4th dig here, works both ways. Now England will get the worst use of conditions all match. If we apply ourselves for this one day we will put ourselves in a great position, Root has taken a huge and unnecessary gamble.

I agree batting 1st is better for us but you can see where Root is coming from

Mind you there is no guarantee our bowling will capitalize on any situation either

Horses for courses. Green on pitch & overcast conditions against this fragile line up means he wants to put us to play catch up in an hour or two.
