Next session will be of atleast 30 overs. England can easily get 100 runs and bat India out of the game. Need to get them all out before that.

India can't afford to concede more than 75-80 runs. They have to get Engand out before that. Chasing 200 would be tough but doable but anything over that would extremely difficult and over 250 would be near impossible. Moeen is a huge danger, not sure why but Indian batsmen never play him well. He will teach Ashwin again how to bowl on this pitch. Bowl slow, slightly outside off with a bit of flight. The rough will do the job for you, Ashwin is trying leg spinners and carom balls.

So we did better, almost won a series

This time we lost it

Draw series is always better then lost series

We won 1-0 in NZ what nearly lost

60/6 to 600 when did that happen???

best was john wright

Coaches job is to prepare team not to go n play for them

Your point was he took players early, so what happened why did they get all out for 100 plus in first test in SA.

go check cricinfo for history for nz series.

No coaches job is to prerare and implement a policy which no coach has done as consistently as Shastri.

Shastri is the best coach for this team and he is making this team of nobodies compete in every match overseas, thats all anyone can expect from a coach. This team does not give up  like teams in past, it competes every match.

The overall quality of other teams have dipped. Nothing to do with shastri..

And with I'll fast bowler stocks rose and with emphasis on fitness the fast bowlers are able to hunt in packs. But what happened to batting. What is shastri doing here. as a team we stuck. Leave virat, we would eb all out for 100.

Destroyed rahane completely and pujara almost.

Slowly and steadily, Ind appears to be digging a hole for itself .... if Eng is not bowled out quickly, it will always get a decent total

Should have attacked more. Simply bowling economically will not do the trick. In fact banking on that type of thinking has often led to Ind's downfall in tests in SENA .... Should have attacked more (a lot more)

Who said overall quality of teams have dipped that NZ 2008 team was one of its worst and yet India with its best team barely managed to win one test.

Fast bowling was very good in 2008 too with Zak, young Ishant and Munaf and Sresanth. It is consistency which has been added by Arun , he needs to get the credit.Shastri gets credit for hiring him too.

Yes batting needs improvement, but these are players he inherited , how did he destory Rahane. This team has been dominant in subcontinent even in Srilanka where previous Indian teams rarely did well. All overseas matches have been close except one.Give it time, he will get things right.

Fast bowlers have done everything they could,Ashwin has simply failed us here, even 2 wickets from him and this scenario would have been in our favour
