Pujara was below avg then and still is avg till when are we going to be happy with avg, not so bad Rahane in all sena countries has had only one bad tour actually which was this one. Pujara i think only has one good n one avg ......Lets not go to subcontinet ....no one is questioning him their IMO he has turned nothing around , it was still 1-2 innings in 8 chances.....m ok if a young player does that but not a senior one Turn around is what kohli did this time this . Kohli deserved his chances to play in this ENG series because he has been so brilliant in all of SENA except ENG . Similar was the case with Rahane too, but unlike Kohli he couldn't turn it around this time , for which he can be exempted because to be brilliant in all alien countries is an exception rather than a norm. Pujara still remains mediocre in all of SENA + WI . Time to move on from him much intensely than the case is with Rahane UrmiSinhaRay and Ankit_sharma03 1 1 Link to comment

Pujara displayed an upward trend, while Rahane, who is supposed to take up the baton in SENA, got exposed Also Pujara wins you more tests with his batting in most conditions For me this is the most important fact : Pujara still remains mediocre in all of SENA + WI despite several series in these countries and that says a lot about his general calibre to master those alien conditions. Infact it has been 8 series till date to these 5 alien countries combined and he remains absolutely mediocre in all of these 5 countries!!!!!!!!!!! You believe in what ever you feel of him , but sorry, for me this track record is faaaar from adequate. On the other hand, Rahane has been so brilliant in 4 out of these 5 countries till date. And to me, Rahane convinces me far more in future series in these alien countries than Pujara. Link to comment

In Eng, he got exposed .... End of story .... Pujara is atm a better option considering subcon + SENA Link to comment

kohli
Play rahane only outside, and pujara in Asia. Link to comment
LORD_analyst
pujara has below average technique in moving conditions.....highly suseptible to inswing and also sometimes pokes at balls outside off. Ankit_sharma03 1 Link to comment
Lannister
The biggest problematic players are Dhawan, Rahane and Shami. These three need to be given immediate focus before turning our attention to other players. I don't think they have anything left to offer for this team. So need to let them go. prasen82
Of all our problems pujara is the least. He can at least block 50 balls on average to protect middle order. Rahane comes in much better position and struggles . He is supposed to marshall the tail and gets out before he gets to that position. Pujara is on notice but we need to go in a phased manner. Get rahane and dhawan out and get shaw/mayank and nair into the team. Nair deserves chances ahead of gill and vihari to be honest . I think we need to provide hope to ranji performers else everyone will look at ipl as way to get into test team. Pandya, rahane should go and play ranji and if they perform there they should get selected on A tours . I think this will make everyone strive more for consistency. Now there is a huge chaltha hai attitude . UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Brainfade
His innings in the 4th test was pivotal in giving the team respectability. That's what people remember. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
rkt.india
Kohli is doing the same, just enough to pad his stats not enough to win games. Switchblade, UrmiSinhaRay and Number 1 2 Link to comment
CoverDrive
No one except Kohli was perfect. But Pujara, Ishant and Ashwin also kind of showed importance of exposure in conditions before going there to play. Even with wretched county season pujara knew what was coming and he played according and was not horrible. Imagine if Rahul, Vijay and Rahane has some experience of those conditions we could have had better showing from these guys. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
rkt.india
Will say the same about fast bowlers. They just let England get away when they had to grab the neck and crush it, time and time again. Switchblade and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1 Link to comment

Soorma_Bhopali
We need to give Mayank Agrawal and Lokesh Rahul a go as openers ..I think Dhawan & Vijay are out of red-ball cricket . Rahane & Pandya also need to be dropped with specific feedback on whaT THEY NEED TO IMPROVE UPON.lET THEM MAKE ENOUGH RUNS IN DOMESTICS TO FORCE THEIR WAY BACK IN SIDE. Pandya needs to score some big hundreds beforec deserving a no.6 position in batting . UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment

zen
If we have to rely on Rahane 4-5 years old stats to show that he is good, ironically, it would only show that he is a regressed player who needs to work on his game to be reconsidered for a spot View overall figures [change view] Primary team India Opposition team Australia or England or New Zealand or South Africa Home or away away (home of opposition) Start of match date between 14 Sep 2016 and 14 Sep 2018 Ordered by runs scored (descending) Page 1 of 1 Showing 1 - 21 of 21 First Previous Next Last Return to query menu Cleared query menu Overall figures Player Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s V Kohli 8 16 0 879 153 54.93 1500 58.60 3 4 1 102 1 CA Pujara 7 14 1 378 132* 29.07 1068 35.39 1 2 2 48 0 KL Rahul 7 14 0 329 149 23.50 551 59.70 1 0 2 48 1 AM Rahane 6 12 0 314 81 26.16 734 42.77 0 2 1 34 0 HH Pandya 7 14 1 283 93 21.76 461 61.38 0 2 2 42 2 R Ashwin 6 12 2 216 38 21.60 321 67.28 0 0 0 33 1 S Dhawan 5 10 0 194 44 19.40 325 59.69 0 0 0 28 0 RR Pant 3 6 0 162 114 27.00 252 64.28 1 0 1 20 6 M Vijay 5 10 0 128 46 12.80 434 29.49 0 0 2 15 0 An avg of 26 at #5 or below in SENA for a SENA specialist is a joke!
