I somehow doubt it.

By now i have seen that a lot of senior players just feel that its there birth right to be in the playing eleven.

I have seen this with quite a lot of seniors specially in Asian countries and they feel disrespected if they are dropped.

Same happened with Ganguly also and he was one of the main reasons for India going in such low morale to WC2007.

Why do you doubt it? Ramesh powar was the one who made the call of sitting Mithali out. Why would you sit her out? Her strike rate is over 100. May not be 120. But it allows high risk players like Mithali and Harmanpreet to play more freely. Look what happened in the semi final. Dramatica collapse

This was the world T20. Look at people other than Mandhana and Kaur.  Her selection was a no brainer. Thought she was rested in the dead rubber match. But Powar fatso has some beef with her apparently. I suspected this. Mithali has confirmed it. Veda krishnamurthy 5 matches 24 runs strike rate 92.30. How is Mithali worse than her?

So if she brought them earlier while WC was on you would be first one to say why didn't she let it get over first.

She has been playing for 20 years. She has been skipper for a long time too. How would she like if her decision to drop or picked was turned into national drama?

The thing is the decision to drop her wasn't of captain. Mithali is accusing Coach which is fine generally and edulji of interference which is not fine. Harmanpreet just went along with the decision. Besides let's not kid ourselves she was replaced by somebody who is not even 5% of Mithali's capabilities. You may not be aware but besides few India's bench strength is extremely poor.

She is a sore ex captain and being petty .

Big ego and self entitled.

You are completely prejudiced here. She may or may not have big ego. There is no way she should have been dropped. Its beyond logic.

Point is not whether the decision was right or wrong.

The point is that the management took a decision and there is no reason to turn it into national drama.

There is no guarantee that the decisions taken will prove right or wrong. It is not like Mitali has won us world cups single handedly in the past . We would / could have had the same result had she been in the team too.

Point is ...why is a decision to drop a senior player being turned into such a big thing ?

She was dropped for a game .....not forced to retire.

The decision can be called out as wrong in hindsight ...but what is the need to do all this. First her stupid manager blasts the current captain ...then mithali blasts the coach. This is some ugly **** being flung around for one player being dropped for one game .

One does not replace a performing player with a nobody in the all important semi final match of a WC. Dirty politics. Completely with Mithali Raj.

On a different note why these completely failed cricketers end up being selectors/coaches?

Seems you have to be morbidly obese to be a national coach.

Do Powar and Cheerleader have an actual coaching certificate/qualification between them?

Highest scorer means nothing in T20s, have you seen her SR. No coach in world would want to sit a match winner on sidelines. As a coach Powar should have liberty to pick his players and all the players except Raj have been singing praises about him.

They won against Australia without her and so they wanted to play the same team, if they had won it would have been a non story. Result should not dictate whether decision is right or wrong.

Diana has nothing to do with it.Dropping a player from team should not become a national issue. We are nation who cried foul against captain who in order to win declared when so called god was 194 not out.

Powar only thing I can point out is he should have conveyed it to her face his intentions. But we don't know what was going on , as per the letter we can safely assume Raj feels somehow team and nation is obligated to her for her services in past.So they should keep on picking her in playing 11.

I can understand her disappointment but match winner like Kumble was dropped from finals in world cup because captain thought other player gave him better chance to win.But he did not throw a tantrum like this.

Where have all the other players been singing praises?

If he didn't want her in the team because he felt her game is not suited, that could have been clearly conveyed, instead he behaved like a teen girl ducking her whenever she was in the same place.

And as someone else mentioned, she was replaced by a player who averaged 9.

It is funny Powar rested her in a dead rubber match won it and concluded: "it is the winning combination". That is utterly devoid of logic. You rested her because you could afford to lose that match. What about the other matches they won where Mithali was part of? Wasn't not winning combination? It is pathetic anyway you look at it.

I don't know how people who don't know anything can spout bull **** with such confidence. Have you even been followong the world cup? The strike rates of other teams? The finals scores in the semi final matches and final

Mithali would have made a HUGE difference in a low scoring game on a slow pitch where our batsmen got out trying to hit every ball. She was a clear match winner on those pitched. The the gall to LIE about past when she is scoring in the PRESENT is ridiculous. This entire post seems like someone who made his opinion based on news articles and not seeing a single ball except harpreerts highlights

What nonsense you are talking , Raj played three matches and did not bat once and score two 50s but she got hurt so they wanted to play the same combination which won against eventual champions Australia. They must have hoped Patil who replaced Raj in the match against Australia again will repeat that magic. Why is this frciking big deal, there no rule that Raj has to play in semis.

MMQB is very easy , Kumble also should have played in 2003 world cup finals. They should have batted first in CT 2017, the list goes on.

They didn't replace her with the keeper, Keeper was made to open and they want to play the player who took 3 wickets against Australia.

Better communication of decisions and allowing all members of the team to express their grievances and issues openly have been the standout aspects of Ramesh Powar's short tenure as head coach of India women, according to senior middle-order batsman Veda Krishnamurthy.

"The best part about Ramesh is that he is getting everyone to talk," Krishnamurthy told ESPNcricinfo. "Communication has improved. He has asked us to speak out more. If there's anything running in our mind, he wants us to openly have a conversation about it, which wasn't the case earlier. Players are sitting and discussing what their role should be in the team and what they should actually do. There's a lot of cricket being spoken. That's the one thing he's been stressing on ever since he joined us, he wants everyone to come together and work towards it."

Agreed.....experimentation cannot be done in a world cup semifinal.

Powar  has a fat tummy and how about his brain....he should be sacked for this truly WRONG selection.

Well obviously communication has since broke down, especially with Mithali. Unless she's lying.

Mithali looks like is all about herself and is not the team.No player would threaten to reitre in middle of tournament if she is not made to open.No coach would want to s*rew up a chance to win.

2007 world cup, West Indies

Dravid captain

Sachin was asked to bat in middle order with pressure from Greg chappell

2018 women's world T20, West Indies

Kaur captain

Quiet a coincidence given that both of them are super stars in the annals of Indian cricket history.

So what.....superstars and their positions can't be touched?

I am kinda skeptical about that. They did even worse. They dropped her. She has not retired as she "threatened" till now.

This superstar and I am entitled egos have to removed from teams all togther. Nobody is bigger than the team. Her manager was also spouting all nonsense about captain.Pawar look like guy with right ideas.

Kapil, Sachin and now Dhoni became bigger than the team itself which is so wrong.

Tendulkar's decision is not as big as this one due to the fact everybody else other than these 3 are absolute duds. Jemima is still developing. Kaur and Mandana are high risk takers. Rest are complete joke.  So obviously it was a huge blunder to drop her. Also the opener they replaced Mithali was like a tailender. It made no sense whatsoever. Logically , strategically in everywhich way that was stupid move even assuming Mithali has a gigantic ego. Kohli has more ego than anyone else. Just because of that we cannot drop him.
