Pandya has age in his stride while Colin is already almost 32.5 . As of now Pandya is slightly better even in stats.So no...

so now even Nz feels the need of playing an all rounder or lets use every one fav word bits n pices

Aussies also play marsh as they also dnt have much of bowling among their batsman

well teams around world is feeling the need for such players 

• the workload among bowlers is a lot with so much cricket going
• part timing bowling not being of gr8 use in most conditions

 

Here its easy for keyboard warriers to write that we need specialist (n they dnt even look at their perfomances ) as compare to the captain who has to manage the team on ground . A captain cnt cry that he doesnt have a world class all rounder coz he needs to get his work done and manage things like bowlers workload

Your post reminds me of that know-it-all who called pandya a "hammock for bowlers" right before Pandya took that match-winning 5-fer in England.  That guy at least had the shame to disappear and hasn't been seen since.  There are a few others who will stubbornly keep saying the earth is flat, till the cows come home.

lets see if he will provide balance in the 3rd test or get booted out. The point remains is he good enough just like our very own Pandya. CDG's stats look good  at the moment , however having seen his batting in these conditions or even last year in ODIs in India, he is a waste of a spot. May be a better option in Eng not in Asia.

Batting average of 30, bowling average of 28. Very good record for an all rounder.

 

Failed with the bat in the series, thats all right but he did get 2 wickets in both the tests, one more than Neil Wagner and Ish Sodhi, two frontline bowlers (Boult took 5 wickets).

Simply don't get the opinion of some people here of having only specialist if you don't have genuine all-rounders. It's all about how good the available options are. If there is only binny or rishi dhawan, I won't opt for them and go with specialist. Pandya is much better and hence more likely to add balance. Meanwhile you can call them bits and pieces or whatever you want. Team balance and adding multiple dimesnsions to the team is important in LOIs.

CdG is more experienced than Pandya is, which counts for a lot since Hardik had very little FC bowling experience when he entered the team. But I see both of them as utility players, who do not have a clear-cut discipline in which they are genuinely reliable.
