Batting non stop @fineleg

No seriously let's try this...

A. Duty of the top 5 to go in with an intent to score 100+

Rahane

Mayank

Pujara

Kohli

Vihari

B. Duty of the lower middle to go in with an intent to score 50+

Pant

Pandya - stokes role

Jadeja - spin allrounder

Bhuvi - woakes role

C. Shami is retarded and bumrah is batting handicapped.. so whatever

Shami

Bumrah

Why bhuvi over Ishant? Batting?

The only reason to go with Parthiv is if he were opening the innings, also if the pitch turns we can get 2 spinners in the squad & chuck a pacer or 2 out, with Kumar also coming in.

Now the reason to drop Pant depends on whether/if he defied the TM & threw his wicket away, but if there weren't clear instructions from the TM to preserve his wicket then the TM should be taken to task! This capitulation is unacceptable, our batting at the top is bad as it is but our tail is even worse than that of Pak

It will be disgrace to ask Pujara to open. Leave the guy alone and let him bat at 3. He might score 50 odd opening but it still doesn’t help India as a youngster will eventually come in, and no one guarantees how much Pujara’s partner at opening will score. So a youngster anyway could get exposed early if Pujara’s partner fails.

So the whole idea of wnating Pujara to open doesn’t realy add up.

pujara can open ..makes sense as we need some one to waste the new ball and he is the best to do that.

1. Mayank Agarwal

2. Pujara (sorry to do this, but no other choice)

3. Rahane

4. Kohli

5. Vihari

6. Hardik Pandya (instead of Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel the batsman)

7. Rishabh Pant

8. Ashwin (if injured, then Jadeja)

9. Ishant Sharma (or Bhuvi if batting bolster)

10. Md. Shami

11. Bumrah

Why do people want to make matters worse than it already is by having a tail starting from 6?

we need to ask our conscious...who else other than Pujara for the team cause?? If Vijay & Rahul is still tried , no guarantee because they would be so low in confidence with all these failures. Mayank is  worth a risk that can be huge success or  pathetic failure. That being the case, come what may the positive step is to make Pujara open. And also Kuldeep to play.

We bat till 8; have 6 bowling options and leave our best 3 batsmen at 3,4,5. Anyone who suggests Rohit must be banned from using the internet and sent for an IQ test.

like this.. but no Ashwin likely so jaddu.

This will go against the public sentiments but I'd stick to the same openers for the next test match.

Rahul is not a horrible batsman, he is going through a horrible phase. Vijay has probably seen his best days and is most likely playing in his last series.

These idiots should have put Mayank on the plane the moment Shaw got injured so he got bit of time to acclimatized.

The next best option would be Pujara with either Vijay or Rahul.

Can't expect Pappu Patel and Mayank to blunt Aussies red-hot bowlers without any match practice.

Why on earth would we want the only batsman in the team that can actually bat against the new ball and drop anchor, to open and further expose him ?!?

If anything, Pujara > Kohli this series so far and if anyone has to step up to the plate, it should be Captain Kool and leading by example.

because Pujara has the technique, experience  & the results to show, a lot better than most  batsmen in the current team w.r.t facing & seeing off new ball & then surviving to score big runs. There are 4 inns left in the series. If Pujara survives  first 15 overs, there is a very high probablity of the team putting up a big inns  because this also allows one extra batsman or efficient all rounder in the middle order .

the core of the matter is  as to  what is the benefit that the team can achieve by shielding Pujara from the new ball??All it does is a certified 10/1 or 10/2 when he comes to the crease .Isn't it?

Dude even a few months back Pujara was doing terribly and you people were calling for his blood.
But he bounced back and won you some matches.
That said , Rahul/Vijay should stop aping Virat or Hardik and be themselves.
I get that they're possibly being put under pressure by the team management to put forward a certain image - but being yourselves really helps a lot.
Even Pujara returned to form after he went back to his humble selfm

Well if the objective is to block till the shine is gone on the new ball, i'd rather pony up anyone else than our best batsman this series to do it.....Risking your best asset is not more optimal than minimizing risk to your best asset...

we need to view things from the point of view of the benefit of the team. If 'some body else' is asked to open  there is far more probability of him getting out earlier ( I would place that even at 80% going by the current trends) when  compared to Pujara. So why sacrifice a wkt to shield Pujara? And when a wkt falls so early , the situation becomes a bit more difficult to Pujara himself. That being the case why can't he come at a bit more easier match situation, I mean at 0-0 rather than '2-1 after 2 overs ' ?
