There is no such hard-n-fast rule (7 days), it is on paper, which countries can violate based on their clout. India has better clout atm with UN/International than Pak. . As explained earlier, Geneva conventions is for enemy combatants, not just PoW. War situations are assessed based on ground conditions. Did Ukraine and Russia declare a official war?, but are ethically bound by conflict-time war-like situations.
