Favoritism at workplace [ Indian IT Sector ] !!!

My personal observation ..

 

Highest first

1) Telugu people - Extreme favoritism shown to their fellow golts to the extent that other non-golts are most probably screwed 

2) Daylight

3) Oriya -  Mostly they are in whitebox/manual testing . One oriya manager in , team will be full of oriya guys in no time

4) Mallus - Helpful to their fellow mallus. Alcoholics from the other group can easily mingle with them.

5) Tamils - Favoritism shown to their people from their fellow region. Performers from the other group need not be worried.

6) Northies ( People from north of vindhyas ) - These guys rarely show favoritism. Rarely do work as well.

7) Kannadigas - Extremely rare to find a kannadiga who will show undersered favoritism to their fellow kannadiga.

Interesting. Let me compare that to my present workplace. I am located in Hyderabad.

1) Higher management is all Tamil.
2) Never knew this was a thing but we do have a team of testers who are all Oriya guys.
3) My own team went thorough lots of transitions. Initially had a Hyderabadi Muslim manager who was a workaholic but a very fair guy. Our team had good mix except it was all guys.

Then came a telugu guy and before I realized, my team including me was all Telugus.

Now we have a Northie manager located in Pune and slowly all the resources are from Pune, mostly Northies but still decent mix.

That has nothing to do with IT. Reddys favour Reddys in all walks of life. There is no better love story than two fellow Reddys coming together. [emoji849]

It all started in in Ramdorai phase, Some guy called Arup Gupta.

I agree, the best offer i was ever given was from a Tamilian, Deal was to whoop Bengalis arses. Tamilian only do it at Board level

Know an instance where a Bihari mgr didn't allow anyone to interview "a 3 yr experienced" from Bihar.  Probably the OP is correct, but I think nepotism exists in all spheres of life

In my experience, it is the Tamizhians who are the worst. It has happened in every sector in Bangalore. Driven away by DMK/AIADMKs anti-upper caste Dravidian politics, a lot of them came to Mysore , Bangalore, were employed by fellow managers (namma aaL types) in public sector companies, ITI is the main one, there are Tamizhian groups everywhere - Banks, ITI, BEL, and later now in TCS. It used to be called Tamizhian COnsultancy Services.  Of course in IT sector, Telugu people beat them to it at the same game, but the culture was started by Tamizhians. 

 

Kannadigas are the other way around. We avoid each other like plague. If we come to know the other guy knows kannada, we converse with them only in English. Never in ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆ . If managers come to know of the candidate is from the same region, they will ask tougher questions and find ways to reject him.

infact your cricket stadium chinnaswamy stadium was built and given as gift to you guys by us :csk:

 

your government has a permanent stall in Coimbatore , their only job is to entice us and start our textile/garment business in chamrajnagar with free leased land , 24hr electricity and protection vs commies   :bandit:

Firstly bias exists everywhere. Not just among Indians. 

 

However if you have to break it down by region Tamilians,Bengalis and Mallus take the cake. I Infact mean that as a compliment because these guys show no bias even across religion, I mean a mallu/tamil/Bengali guy will absolutely get along with all religions/ castes as long as they speak the same language.

 

Telugu people have caste bias, they can kill and suck for caste feeling and sure might go out of their way to favor someone from their own caste,  but won’t have the same level of bias as the above mentioned across all caste and religion 

 

I would have put Gujjus in the above category but I recently learnt that they have this kind of Baroda vs Ahmedabad rivalry( not sure how true). Also I have seen Gujju Muslims and Hindu Gujjus not mixing as much even though they speak the same language compared to other regions.

 

Anyways this is just stereotypes formed from

personal observation.
