its captains job to kick old dhoni out

Dhoni is in there because Kohli needs someone to help him out. He might be the official captain but MSD has a powerful presence in the field and VK is leaning on him a lot.

 

The second thing is that there simply aren't any serious candidates to bat at 5 or 6.

If Kohli cant captain without being spoon fed let him step down and have Rohit captain. Whats the point of having a proxy captain? And your second point is hilarious as Pant has batted better (and would have kept better) than Dhoni in just 2 innings

It's selectors,  captain and coach who's job is to pick the team . If your country calls you play .

He makes life easy for spineless group of people because they are frightened to make the call ?
