Spinners have been pretty useless till now. what prompts you to play 2 spinners.  They have been as poor as Ashwin and Jaddu were in 2017 CT.  Performance just has not been there.

I want Jaddu to open with Bhumrah.

Infact  Jaddu should bowl first over.

Bongs are good players of spin. Our spinners have done very well in all matches apart from one. So no. I have full confidence if MSD does field placing Jaddu Kuldeep and Chahal will do the job

Our spinners are averaging 45 this WC.  How have they done well then? you have very low standards of doing well. While 3 pacers in comparison average 20?  it is MSD who does field placings anyway.  Just one spinner in top 15 bowlers and people are thinking spinners will win us this WC.  It tells us how perception and not real performance or reality influence people.

It’s on an absolute qualification ... it’s a man is to man deal .. our best option is a spinner we don’t have starc in our team ... the best we have is jaddu against and the data shows that .. bairstow’s 12 months .. get him out before 30 or else forget it

spinners are our best bet if the game is in India, not in England.  We have 3 of the best fast bowlers currently and they are our best bet.  We are in SF because of our pacers and not the spinners.

Wickets like Faf Miller Pooran Hope Roy Bairstow warner Finch Smith Kohli Rohit Williamson  Babar Shakib are key.

Just you know It was Kuldeep that got Roy out last time we toured. Even in the last match.  Roy also got out to Shadab Khan. Both Roy and Bairstow are average against spinners.  Read the pitch and pick the XI. Don't go by last match blindly. That would be stupid. If we don't have chahal they will target Pandya.

Why is Bhuvi “wicketless” Kumar an automatic selection in the starting XI?

because he can bowl tight overs at death and is second only to Bumrah in that skill. Shami is essential to get wickets up front, only space for one spinner between kulcha and the other one needs to be Jadhav. This is where we miss someone like Yuvraj singh/Sehwag  - too bad Rohit never developed his bowling.

Don't need two spinners against Eng,both the spinners were struggling against their batsmen

1. Tail end of the tournament wickets are going to get slow

2. Our quicks are really express and we don’t have a left armer to bring the ball back in . We haven’t really seen any reverse as well with the two new balls

3. It probably going to be sunny and dry . Therefore wicket will be dry. We need to surprise them so opening with jadeja will be a change

4. Our best bet is to get their openers cheap . Only hope is left arm quick or left arm spin.

5. Out strength is middle over spin. Play to your strengths .

6. Banking on pandu is risky against England

Our strength is middle over spin, but you wont be up against teams who are mug with bat playing spin,we don't need to be rigid with our approach, our spinners have been our weak link against aggressive lineups understand that, not saying they are not good, but if we can play one seamer we can really hold them back, same opponent same ground, can't be adamant to play our two wristys, its also not as if we are playing Umesh as our third seamer,it is rather Bhuvi,if wicket is slow and turning them im all for both of them playing

I think jadeja would be a good bet in middle overs. He will at least contain .. and with bumrah and  bhuvi at fag end we will get the wickets. Kulcha have flattered to deceive and with the way odi rules have changed, if they don't improve batting they are goners .

Pace is our strength at this point.  Pacers averaging 20, spinners 45. If not for pacers, we would have been knocked out of the WC by now.  Imagine pacers also averaging 45 with the ball.
We already have 3 Pacers with Pandya bowling well.Risk/Reward is favorable for playing a extra spinner who could go for same runs in middle overs but pick extra wickets.

They are going to get fresh pitches in Knockouts. Won't be played on used pitches. Like game against England was played on a side pitch, not the center pitch.

Only if they were picking those extra wickets. They have not done it, neither in this WC nor last year. Pandya isn't a third seamer. He is our fifth bowler. We can't afford to drop anyone of Shami and BK. Shami is a wicket taker. BK good at death.

England play high risk cricket and there is good chance they will holdout against spin if there is some turn and if we bowl second the pressure will do the job.

If they target pandya, they will give him wickets as he has mixed his pace up very well till now.

Roy, Morgan, Butler, Bairstow are all weak against spin.  Stokes and ROot are okay against spin.  They need a pitch that offers zero turn to do well against spin. Unless that is the case going in with 4 right arm seamers could leave us helpless. Wahab Riaz conceded like 113 runs with 140 kballs against England not long ago. All the massive targets that England achieved recently were against seamers. If it comes to a situation that you desperately need to slow down the game you will be left with just one spinner. India should be prepared for all scenarios. We cannot use last match as a template and make our team selection. If that were to be the case Australia would drop Starc against India.

Both Shami and Bhuvi can be targeted on flat pitches. Guys like Oshane Thomas and lot of other pacers were obliterated by England only recently. Sadly India misses a left arm seamer like Behrendoff.  Full swinging deliveries from a tall fast bowler is always difficult to face. These 2 short right arm fast bowlers at best will skid on which they will have practice against Mark wood in the nets.

The semi final won’t be played with a 59 meter boundary on one side like it was in the group game. It will be played with normal boundary sizes.

If we are going to playing on a fresh pitch, then it makes even more sense to play both Kuldeep and Chahal.

Someone like Bhuvi will do absolutely nothing on a excellent batting track. The wrist spinners can at least get a wicket or 2 and support Shami & Bumrah.

Don’t look into the last match too much. The only reason why England got 337 was because of the small boundary.
