Cricketphile Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I personally prefer net run rate over head to head as well and the Pakistani team and the fans should move on, without complaining now. All teams knew the rules beforehand and teams played (or should have played) according to that. It’s meaningless to complain now and is clearly biased. However, I saw a lot of posts saying that Pakistan would have been on the receiving end, had head to heads being applied to tournaments, instead of net run rates. I couldn’t find a single case of that. In all tournaments where run rate decided their progress, they were tied with 2 other teams, each of whom lost and won against the other. In such a case, even if head to head was applied first, it still wouldn’t be enough as there were 3 teams tied, and net run rate would come into the picture anyway. Pakistan can certainly feel hard done as their washout against Sri Lanka and the washout against New Zealand probably had a say in the outcome. However, hindsight analysis is not fair and perhaps new zeland may have tried harder had they lost against India and won a few more. Or Pakistan May have lost against Sri Lanka and we wouldn’t be having this conversation to begin with

Australia will literally steamroll them and will get an easy route to the finals. I'd imagine the competition would be a tad more difficult if it was an Australia vs Pakistan semi.

SF spot has to be earned and NZ did a marginally better job, case closed. There were 7 full matches after WI massacre, were Arthur and Sarfaraz chakki peasing? And what about the Afghan match, did Pak deserve to win that encounter OP? Instead of imagining things, Pak fans must question Sarfaraz. Bugger elected to field after winning tosses against Aus and Ind, benched Haris for Malik and Afridi for Wagah Ali . Their team deserved an exit just for the TM's lunacy.
