1st rahul deserve ample of chance n has done nothing wrong to be dropped

Kohli shouldn't be playing this series to start.

Rahul did well as a makeshift opener n he is now our backup.

Shreyas has been doing well for a long time. Also, he unfairly lost his place too when he was doing well. We need both Rahul n Shreyas in our lineup.

Kedhar Jadhav was deemed not good enough to play the World Cup semis, and instead two wicket keeper batsmen where played ahead of him now all of a sudden Jadhav is good enough when in the next world Cup he would be 38.

You just want to give up on this team because of how its managed, but following Indian cricket is a habit from childhood that is proving hard to break

true, their is no sense in what they do

Dk was termed as finisher by TM and he comes in At no.5 in WC....

Rahul becomes backup opener to middle order batsman every 2nd series

Following are blunders made by Kohli-Shastri post wc:

1. Preference for flat track players like Agarwal and Rohit over Gill: On WI tour Gill scored more runs in 3 innings than what Agarwal could not score in 8 innings, while playing against Dukes ball known for lateral movement.Agarwal has not scored a first class century outside India in over 15 innings.Rohit is proven flat wicket player who failed outside India.Gill is all condition player who can play lateral movement,pace/bounce and spin with equal competence.

2. Persistence with Dhawan as t20 player.

3. Selection of KL Rahul for ODI squad as player with s/r below 85 is unacceptable.

4. Selection of Shivam Dube who averages 14.27 in 26 t20 matches, without scoring a fifty.

5. Dropping Pant over Saha.

Overall one pattern is clear,Kohli is only targeting Gill, who deserves place in all three formats. To block Gill,he will promote any other player.

Kohli has too much attitude problems  for sure. He is just   keen on keeping his priorities intact.  That's all. W.R.T tests it is the no:1 ranking & WTC. For that, beating SL & WI home & abroad  along with being almost unbeatable at home  will do for him. He is not at all keen on winning prestige  series like in ENG ,SAF,NZL etc , at the least his methods give such an impression. There is not a single batsman including him in the team  who has a good track record in ENG. Seems he would be  approaching the next ENG series with proven inadequacies  Pujara,Rohit Rahane etc etc.

Since when Gill has become all format player.

Who was emerging player in last IPL ? It was Gill for a reason ! If you look at his average and s/r together in small number of matches he played in top order in IPL(4 fifties),it is higher than Rohit/Dhawan/Rahul/Kohli.In list A matches he has scored runs all around the world rather he is most consistent player for India A,if you combine both first class and list A.

MSK Prasad has repeatedly said that Gill is player for all three formats.Selectors have identified the potential of Gill but it is Kohli who is blocking him on purpose.

Who cares about IPL, IPL is not international cricket.Gill stunk in the middle order in IPL too.He is not better than either Rahul or Rohit in t20s.

He looked totally clueless in two odis he played .If he had scored a hundred there he would have been in world cup squad but he was not ready .

Why would Kohli block gill It is upto Gill to make himself a middle order bat if he wants to play in t20 squad or wait for his turn.

IPL performances matter as players are selected based on them. Now you are making conclusion about Gill based on two ODIs in New Zealand but you failed to realised than Rohit was unable to hit even as "single" boundary in those matches.Gill never looked clueless in those two innings rather he was middling ball superbly with 2 excellent 4s,it was incorrect shot selection that led to his wicket.Had he shown more patience,he would have survived. In 4rth odi Indian team was all out on 92 and you expect Gill to score century.

Now look at scores of Rohit Sharma before he got out against New Zealand in last four 50 over matches:

Runs       Balls Faced            4s/6s      Bowler    Match

7              23                          0/0          Boult       4rth odi

2              16                          0/0          Henry      5th odi

2               6                           0/0          Boult        practice wc

1               4                           0/0          Henry       wc semi final

Is it hard to predict performance of Rohit on quicker pitches against bowlers like Boult/Henry ?

Proven failures like Rohit are being given opportunities while talent like Gill has to keep on waiting.

Who said Rohit is  a proven failure, Rohit is one of the best shorter format player ever not just now. Kohli also flopped in world cup semis, you want him to be dropped too.

Gill has done nothing to displace either Rohit or Dhawan in odis. T20s he is not suited yet and he still has to get power game, If I were him I would concentrate on becoming test opener, he will get his chance soon.

There is no injustice done to Gill, he has long career ahead of him so stop worrying about him.

It is not what you think about Rohit,it is a fact that has failed in all ICC events. He has accumulated runs in useless bilateral series on slow Asian pitches. On following ICC events he failed in last 4 years:

T20 wc 2016 :

  5 matches;88 runs ;average 17.60 ; s/r 107.31

2015 wc:Failed in semi final against Australia.

2017 CT:Failed in final against Pakistan.

2019 wc:Failed in semi final against New Zealand.Though he was accumulating runs after dropped catches in almost every match. There is saying -"bakre ki maa kab tak khair manaye gi".

HOW MANY MORE failures in knock out games do one need to convince oneself that Rohit is proven failure ?  Wait for next T20 wc for one more to be added in list.Kohli has also failed in key knock out games in 50 over ICC events. But he has done reasonably well in T20 WCs.In history he too will be remembered as choker.Rohit is mere an example.

I end my argument here.Keep dreaming if you want to that losers like Rohit will win an ICC event.

I will take my chances with Rohit over unproven Gill any day.Don't make Gill into Bradman yet.He will get his chances soon.
