OpeningBatsman Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) West Indies Fast Bowler Cecil Wright Announces Retirement at 85 Wright, who in his heyday represented Jamaica against Barbados, lining up against Sobers and Wes Hall, moved to England in 1959 and launched a career as a professional in the Central Lancashire League for Crompton. After three years he decided to stay on in England and settled down after meeting his future wife Enid, then having a son. Wright, who also played with Richards and Joel Garner, another of the great West Indies pace attack of the late 1970s and early 1980s, has taken over 7,000 wickets during a career spanning more than 60 years. At one point he took 538 wickets in five seasons, averaging one every 27 balls. https://www.news18.com/cricketnext/amp/news/west-indies-fast-bowler-cecil-wright-announces-retirement-at-85-2286445.html Edited August 27, 2019 by OpeningBatsman maniac and velu 2

Sachinism Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 There's an uncle at my club, he's 66 and plays. I thought he was going great. Bloody 85 is insane
Cricketics Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Respect to him for staying fit and playing at decent level. It's not easy to turn up and field for 40-50 overs in a hot weather and when you are 85, its even harder. But good on him, it's also his workout routine so worked well for him.

Bloody 85 is insane Played till 55. Bowl 4 odd overs in 20 over matches. Field for about 6 odd overs. Then take rest in tent nearby the boundary line. Playing club cricket till 66 is a remarkable achievement. Hats off to the man whoever he is. Must say he has good stamina. Some people of those ages can barely walk properly. To bowl and field with acceptable agility at that age is very very good. maniac 1

I hope to return one day and play into my old age. This dude really is a champ, in his younger days played 5 days a week. Still turns up one a week nowadays. Straight Drive 1
