i understand his omission for the first 2 tests vs SAF. But if India go  on to win first  2  tests then I think he could have been included in the dead rubber 3rd test.

All match is important for world test championships, now no more dead rubber.

agreed .... but that doesn't  mean Bumrah  the most potent fast bowling   weapon should play each and every match, isn't  it ?? Then that would be  equally harmful for both Bumrah & India in the long run.Similarly with other bowlers  in the team too.So I think Hardik can be played in matches selectively depending on the conditions . Calibre wise too he deserves that

BP XI ----

---- Good to see Avesh

---- Why no Saini  ?

---- Why are Shardul and Porel there ?

----  Could have played a wrist spinner.

Apparently Saini has become net bowler by being with the team... surprising that a bowler traveling with team in overseas tour di t even het chance in board president xi.

Why - obviously any other future opening prospects will not be given an opportunity to shine! If Fat belly succeeds then consider the next 10-20 tests locked for him, whether home or away, just hoping Rabada mashes his twin potatoes so that he's permanently dropped from tests :whack2:

Rohit seems to be  the best fit to open for the current series  vs  SAF  especially with Shaw  not available & 'Rahul being Rahul' . But he is not at all  a permanent option in the  long run. Once Shaw returns , he and Mayank should open.

How is Gill an opener?

Leaving apart this series as Rohit is already confirmed as opener, better if Selectors for future series

     1) first  look at Mayank & Shaw - who were supposed to be first choice openers post Aus series

      2) Second in the list should be Eashwaran  who has 4 +years of Domestic  game experience and a proper opener.

      3) Then could be Gill .

Have some long term thinking and then earmark the best possible guys for each spot .

These selectors somehow seem to pick players without that strain of thought . Even when they make a good selection they do not stick to it.
