Parag has a huge future for years to come and work on his limitations along the way. Need to pull the trigger on him especially when he is already in the mix. you should be happy they are letting Parag play T20. He will come in. But not right away. India has a lot of spin all rounders. Axar, Jadeja, Sundar. They don't have seaming all rounders besides Pandya. So they will try to give more opportunities to him.
Need4Speed Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 All 3 points are valid: -Dube played well..more than expected. -Riyan Parag should have been groomed. -Roko should have rested to give chance to young players against SL..and they were resting but Gambhir called them unnecessarily.. Bonus: Iyer and KL are not my preferred choice as they lack mental strength for big mayches.

CT is only 5 months away. There are hardly 5 ODI matches left before CT. RoKo can't be directly playing CT, with such a long lay off & with no match practice (in ODIs). Yes, they might be playing few tests but that's a different format. Secondly, the seniors should not be setting a wrong culture of taking indefinitely long leaves from intl cricket as and when they want. (Bumrah being rested is understandable as he is a pacer so injury prone). There is no point of replacing RoKo with youngsters just before an ICC tournament especially when we know that those youngsters are not going to be a part of that ICC tournament.

Cant BCCI possibly squeeze in a 3/5 matches ODI tournament before the CT? It seems unwise to include both Rohit and Kohli while denying Jaiswal a place on the team. If either Rohit or Kohli is injured or has a family emergency just before the CT, Jaiswal may not make the team at all because he will have no ODI experience. Frustrated 1

I expect them to play well without these SL odis too..they have enormous experience..the champions trophy is still very far..

maniac Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 Saw Dube’s fielding today. Saw some glimpses in World Cup too. I think he was well hidden. Can anyone say it is international standard?

Can anyone say it is international standard? He's not intl standard with the bat, ball or in the field. CSK quota pick and how he has been picked in ODIs is a joke. We're going the Pak way in selecting players across formats based on T20s. And it's not as if Dube is a good T20 player. maniac 1

It's not about their match practice but it's about acclimatising with new management. They add the value being seniors to understand the thought process of old management, and also plan for CT in terms of strategies etc

These 3 meaningless games so far apart are useless mostly for seniors and should have been given to likes of Jaiswal Harshit Parag

Vk1 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Dube's rise coincided with csk/dhoni moving on from 130-140 pitches at chepauk. I don't have stats but I am pretty sure he did well against spin on flat pitches. Looks like the selectors and more so the TM missed this crucial point.

Dube has no defense technique against any type of bowling. His role with CSK was to throw kitchen sink regardless of the situation. One time he tried to spend time he failed. The crucial game against RCB. He has zero feet movement. So even ordinary deliveries will look like demonic deliveries when there is some misbehavior. This works in T20. But in longer format you will have more scenarios where he can't bat for 20 overs without any kind of defense. Vk1 1

bowl_out Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 After 35 T20Is, he averages 31 striking at 140, with some clutch knocks, the most recent being the WT20 Final and the 4th T20 vs England. Impressive stats despite all his technical flaws and lack of feet movement. He is a middle order hitter, particularly off spinners, and he has played that role really well Frustrated 1
