Yuvraj Singh: "I don't think Shivam Dube should be compared to me. He should make his own name. He has the talent. Give him some time and then expect results. Don't expect results instantly."

Yuvraj Singh, who retired in June to play in overseas leagues, will be taking part in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League, which will be aired on Sony Six and Sony Ten 3 from November 15.

Asked about Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube being compared to him and whether should he be given a longer-run, Yuvraj answered in the affirmative. Dube made his India debut in the opening T20 against Bangladesh in Delhi on Sunday but failed with the bat.

"Let the guy start his career first, and after a while when he reaches a certain level, then you start comparing him with someone. I don't think he should be compared to me. He should make his own name. He has the talent.

"There are a couple of things that need to be worked on his game. I am not sure if they will be able to identify where he is making the mistakes. Vikram Rathour is the batting coach, he needs to identify where he is making mistake.

"He (Rathour) is not someone who has played T20s, so I am not sure if he can tell what are the areas that he needs to work on. Give him some time and then expect results. Don't expect results instantly."

Yuvraj has been unleashing quite a few passive aggressive comments lately.

His understanding of players mentality is brilliant .......make him selector. He can also be strong in front of kohli.....he shud be the next selector

Some of his public statements clearly show that he has emotional baggage from his time as a player, which was very recently.  That rules him out, for me.

thats ok that he felt hurt but his statement never reflected that he is bitter or  even sehwag for that matter have openely said he was dropped coz he wasnt performing. As long as they arent bitter they are fine

I think he is the best choice n gambhir which wnt be possible now coz of his other job

  • yuvi has played domestic till recent
  • he understands modern game
  • he has an eye for talent
  • he can stand up to virat
  • most imp the kind of insecurity this team has spread among player its very important that we have someone who needs patience with these young players . Read all his statements regd pant n dube recently how he has said - they will grow with time rather many experts who keep demanding high level of perfection.

Kohli has unrealistic expectations from youngsters.

ya i agree.

youngsters need time to come good.

but a youngster like khaleel has already got at least 14 to 17 games, if he is going down as a player and not improving- action should be taken to dump him as well. but process followed should be similar for all who seem capable to play for India in any format.

we should also pick some players for tests and some players for ODI and T20.

there could be only the rarest talent common between tests and shorter format.

As in tests one has to play right under the Nose and in Odi and T 20, one has to play unorthodox shots , big shots , cross shots , even variations as slow balls.

but genuine talent should be valued- i mean if it is a kuldeep, ashwin even chahal turning the ball , he should not be replaced by a batting cum part time spinner like krunnal pandya.. both are different players totally. also bowling strength of t20 team should have genuine 4 bowlers and the last fifth bowler could be two part time bowlers like krunnal and dube together as fifth bowler.

where is Nathu Singh?

i saw him CLean bowling some top batsman in some important matches two years before ?

Why is BCCI not supporting Genuine TRUE fast bowling talent like Nathu.

Tushar deshpande looked as quick as around 140K ?

i agree he has lost his form and rhythm  but it happens. he has been DUMPED.

but he is a genuine fast bowler and was even in the race to get into Indian team- why has he been dumped?..dont play him in 11 if he does not look to be in form but don't dump him totally.

this is why, i should be reporting to SAURAV GANGULY and making some right changes in BCCI.

Supporting umpteen trundler Pace bowlers and a genuine fast bowler is dumped just because he failed for a few matches.
