sarcastic
Both played good knocks today under pressure.>> But Iyer was more impressive today.. The poll on ICF stands as of now: KL Rahul - 1 S Iyer - 25 None - 1 Looks like Iyer is winning the battle here on ICF. Long long ago, KL Rahul was the favorite youngster of everyone here on ICF. How times change. Link to comment
rtmohanlal
Rahul, Iyer & Pandey deserve long runs in T20s in the middle order moving forward. Khota 1 Link to comment

It is actually boosted by high percentage not outs. Also his str; too is a bit off for a middle order spot.So he can't be for that slot Link to comment
vvvslaxman
KL Rahul has more range of shots. He should open the innings with Rohit sharma. Kohli at 3. Iyer at 4. Then we have to find the other options. Pandya will be one of them. You need to value six hitters. Link to comment

jusarrived
KL is far more versatile batsmen , but I will pick even Rayudu over him for for No4 . It’s just stupid to try turning a opener into a middle order batsmen, won’t work ..definitely not so late in someone’s career Link to comment

Moreover, Rahul played a lot more international cricket than Shreyas. Picking a less experienced batsman such as Shreyas in place of Rahul shows that Rahul is definitely lower in the pecking order now. Link to comment

bowl_out
Rahul, Iyer, Pandey take the 4/5 spots.. and Gill in the reckoning as well. Rahul is a floater that should play at 4, and act as back up opener if required... Dhawan is still the first choice opener in ODIs, but not sure if he will last till the next WC. If Dhawan is phased out by 2023, then Rahul moves to open the innings and Gill/Pandey fill the middle order. The XI for the next ODI could look something like this (assuming everyone is fit): Rohit Dhawan Kohli Rahul/Pandey Iyer Samson/Pant Hardik Bhuvi Kuldeep Shami Bumrah Link to comment

Nope he was batting well in that phase even in international Then started the downfall. 2019 wc n ipl are diff formats , russell for wi in t20 is still gold. Even in 2019 wc he was good with ball Link to comment
Straight Drive
Bad luck to Iyer. Inspite of having outperformed Rahul in ODI cricket , he is made to warm the bench. Link to comment
putrevus
Iyer should be given fair chance to prove himself , it would be very wrong to discard him after one failure.Rahul on other hand is suitable only for as opener, if and when that role becomes open , he should be considered along with Gill. Cricwala
In 6 ODIs we have played since WC 2019, we have played the following No. 4s - Iyer (3), Pant (2), Kohli (1)...ahh, it feels like 2018 never ended or maybe this is what the great masters mean when they say time is circular. express bowling 1 Link to comment
