I dont think Kings XI are as bad as OP suggests,Firepower at the top,excellent finishers in Maxwell,Pooran and Hooda.Mayank should be given the middle order anchor role and everyone else should attack.

Out of the handful of players left  who have been there  since the first edition of the IPL 

 

I think CSK has the most

 

Dhoni,Bhajji,Chawla,Vijay,Watson,Raina 

 

don’t  remember if Jadeja played in the first edition or kedar Jadhav

 

Rayudu played in the first edition of ICL even before the IPL so can include him too

 

This is like an antique collectors dream

Who are the fans here? @beetle @Switchblade @Cricketics anyone else? FSK pitch is perfect for our bowling attack but not enough MO strength, is it possible to strengthen it? We should have bought Mushfiqur who is better than most of the SENA guys in Indian conditions, more so in sluggish conditions like Delhi. If they have any brains they should be making phone calls to his manager right now. 

 

For home matches this team looks almost unbeatable.

Last season actually both were good

Rahane in 2nd half last yr was terrific and dhawan was in top 5. Yes jason roy is very tempting option

Rhane always starts with high SR and then screwed up in middle overs.. If they are in playin xi it's good for them but would eventually screwed up for Delhi.

they shudnt play him in XI for sure but not a bad option on bench for sure

uthappa, mishra, chawla, Rayudu all have been good IPL player we shudnt confuse their international failure with it

Has been struggling with form in last 1-2 yr but t20 is a format where u can loose or gain form very quickly.

Utthappa is no longer the Ipl player he was. Agree about the rest.

No can be same whole life but if he can contribute thats what will matter. He is finding some form in ranji and he has versatility and experience.

When players are at their best they are main stay and when they are on decline they become supports...everyone has a role. Now depends how his team uses him and his own form

Some observations looking at how teams lineup

1. MI is once again the team to beat. They look so strong ans settled and they will always be contender for next few years. Key factor for them is how Hardik and bumrah hold up. Knowing their management they will be played somehow even if they are not 100%

2. CSK the age factor will come into play now with those same guys who were considered old 2 years back will further go downhill. Smart combinations based on conditions will still make them playoff contenders

3. RCB - bowling still weak with most of their bowlers not best in T20s. Finch is a good addition but not sure of Morris (RCB has a tendency to pick up hot players 1-2 years past their best)

4. KKR - they have somehow lost their way and squad looks unsettled. lot rests on Russell's fitness and if Gill comes into his own. Morgan is a very good addition and should be made captain.

5. RR- not really sure about this squad as even though they have 4 very good overseas players but more than 1 of them is likely to miss out due to various reasons (Guys like Archer and Stokes are going to be looked after very closely by ECB) and then the team looks quite average in absence of strong indian core or overseas backup.

6. KXIP - again a rebuilding squad which is far from perfect. Bowlng with Neesham, Jordan, Cotterell, SHami, Mujeeb and Gowtham looks good but batting will depend a lot on Karnataka trio of Nair/Mayank/Rahul and depending on which Maxwell turns up.

7. DC - very interested in how they do as they have a very promising young squad an I think they have done the best in this auctions with Hetmeyer, Carey, Stoinis, Roy, Woakes all top notch additions.

8. SRH- Question mark on bowling which depends on Bhuvi and Rashid while batting top 3 can easily take them to playoffs.
