Probably very unfair thing to do. yes its unfair n wrong.... why to make a mess again that to when dhawan high chance wnt be in next Wc and iyer wud be , this will also change KL position who is now adjusting to opening and kohli who is a legend at 3

But Mayank needs to be given a chance to get a feel of ODI. The potential , attitude, application is clearly there based on his numbers in List A matches and Tests. It will be for team's benefit to keep him ready so that if there is a need in future , he can be slotted in seamlessly in place of the incumbents. That does not mean Rahul needs to sit out, he doesn't given his numbers in last few matches it makes sense to continue with him to carry on the momentum. It could be Rohit or Kohli who can take a rest against Sri Lanka and let Mayank get a shot. We will never have a bench ready unless they are given chances. And Mayank's numbers at first class level are better than anybody, it won't be an overstatement to say that he has set a benchmark at first class which the incumbents may find it difficult to replicate.

Rohit wont be out in Aus series, high chance dhawan will replace rahul For t20- mayank hasnt set ipl on fire and we need shaw kind of openers for t20

I am looking more for a ODI exposure for him which I fee he fully deserves based on his performance at domestic and A matches.

Question is who would bat at 3, prior to WC I thought KL at 3. ( that means no Iyer, but so be it) Rohit, KL, Dhawan, Virat, Hardik, Pant, Jadeja, Bhuvaneswar, Chahal, Kuldeep,Jasprit Rohit at 1 and Virat at 4. KL and Dhawan can be interchangeable. Both are extremely good and should be playing. 6th bat is Pant and 5th could be any of the half a dozen Agarwal, Iyer etc.

I would like to see KL keep more, at least in domestics and IPL. That will free up a spot for our 2023 squad. How KL keeping free up the squad when pant is taking that spot and batting at 5. You won't find a better bat for 5-6 slot.

raki05 Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) Mayank can be a great addition in middle order he is a Dasher and play with high Sr. We need batsmens like him at 4/5. Also Rahul needs to play with good Sr. So far what I have seen he tries to emulate Rohit at the start he should be more dynamic and aggressive in his approach at the start. Also after powerplay he completely goes in to the shell, it may be because of he is trying to secure his position but in long run it won't help. Edited December 24, 2019 by raki05

Most notably Gambhir and Harbhajan... Given the history and given that Dada is at the helm and Kohli is an emotional guy having his favorites, they won't give up easily on Dhawan When they are not giving up on geriatric jadhav....it's laughable to assume kl will take Dhwan position anytime soon even in t20s let alone odi. express bowling, bowl_out and Suhaan 3
jusarrived Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Are we seriously thinking of going to the next WC with a lineup of Rohit , Virat , Dhawan and Jadhav with an average age of 37 ? Virat obviously don’t see an issue with his fitness , but not just Dhawan/Jadhav we also need to consider Rohit’s fitness levels in 4 years time . We need younger players in the mix asap . On Dhawan , I would keep him around but the younger guys need a longer run now . Let’s see for next 6 months how KL does , if not some one else needs to get an opportunity. Sgattick10 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Just watched a cric buzz vdo where spineless Harsha couldnt pick between Dhawan and Rahul, avoided the Q with a creepy smile, kudos to Zaheer for picking Rahul raki05 and express bowling 1 1

putrevus Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 (edited) Kohli is an idiot if he wanted/willing to bat at no4 then he should have done that from 2018 so he & other three could have a time to settle in their roles before World Cup. Khota Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 (edited) Age does not matter if the individual is performing at top level .If their coordination is gone I can understand. Second highest scorer in IPL with S/R better than KL and people are questioning his spot. Intersting times we live in. Edited January 13, 2020 by Khota Hakuna Matata 1
putrevus Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I still don't think Rahul is a good odi player, he has no idea on how to rate strike against spinners.I would get a guy like Gill in the team and try to find some matches for him.Gill would be there for next three world cups.
