Especially in USA. I  hate to use these terms liberal and conservatives but I have noticed its mostly the liberals right now who are mostly in favor of legalizing this. All these numbskulls in the Democratic party and also some in Republican party are wanting to legalize cannabis to be used recreationally, and then they also argue that guns will kill our children. Even though I agree with the gun laws need to be changed, their whole argument about legalizing marijuana is the most stupid and contradicts everything what they say about protecting the youth and everything.

A  lot of these people would have kids who would be going to schools and will comeback home all high committing crimes they never would imagine,  when they are just 10-11 year old. How the hell can you have pot legalized just by knowing that. Their argument about legalizing marijuana is going to kill drug cartels is the most foolish. I see more harm to the world than anything the moment recreational marijuana is legalized in every state. It has already been done in 10 states.

I understand the importance of it being used medically at times, but there is absolutely no requirement for it recreationally.

Marijuana is probably the least harmful out off all the drugs, and that's including alcohol as well. It has some health benefits. It's not entirely without harm though. It does have it's side effects. But, it wouldn't be entirely bad to legalize it. Just pass stricter regulations on the usage and possession of marijuana while legalizing it, this controlling the flow of it.

No stricter regulations can help stop the supply of marijuana the moment it is made legal for recreational use. It's going to be a big mess, just watch. There will be new harmful products which will continue to come out out the plant which will belong to the same marijuana family and they will say its not harmful as it belongs to marijuana family.

Also,  people  will be growing this shyt in their houses easily. Backyards, front yards all will be having these.

I don't agree with legalizing recreational marijuana but medical marijuana should be absolutely legalized.

There is an opioid epidemic in the USA. Even guys who have normal back pain/ shoulder pain can easily get easy prescriptions to some heavy drugs. Here is where I am ok with the regulated use of marijuana as a medical alternative instead of synthetic pain killers.

Medical marijuana is absolutely necessary right now in this crisis but yes recreational is pushing it.

Exactly, but scary thing is all these guys who are running for presidency are in favor of recreational.

John Kasich, a republican who was presidential candidate last time against Trump, is the only  one who seem to have got the perfectright balance. I wish he was running as Democrat this year.

People just support and show too much loyalty to their parties  for no reason and not focusing on real issues.

John Kasich for 2024.

I think just like everything in politics, there are 2 extreme views of everything. One guy says Marijuana is the devil and the other guy just to contradict says peeyo aur jiyo.

I think regulated use of Medical Marijuana as a proper prescription should be done. In fact the opioid crisis is worst in Southern states which have a super strict policy on Marijuana. I am not a fan either of legalizing weed, however can't deny that it is a natural substitute to pain management without harmful physical side effects.

I was reading somewhere that when some one has an extreme nasal surgery like say a rhinoplasty they are legally administered a dose of cocaine as well and we all know that opium has been used as a medicine in India/China for 1000's of years but what next legalize cocaine and heroin?

Need to draw a fine balance here.

By the way I think it is legal in your DC :) as last time I took some family members for sight seeing there, I could smell people smoking it on the street like regular cigarettes even when they were cops around. I see where you are coming from

I live in Maryland  though even though  its part of DC(DMV) :) But talking about DC, it has  this weird law where you can consume Marijuana but you are not supposed to buy it or sell it. If you are seen buying  or selling, you can get in trouble basically.

Regarding medical vs recreational debate, i am all for medical reasons. Isn't  that common  already for lot of drugs which weren't legal earlier to  use. So this fits in the same boat for me. But recreationally should be absolute now.

People who are in favor for it to be used recreationally have no clue really. You mention opiod, if anything  OPIOD should serve as prime example of how a drug or pill can become an addiction and destroy lives of  people. Those kids in elementary  schools today, I am sure many ICFers have kids too, will end up looking like Zombies by the  time they get to high  school. They will come home  extremely high, taking extreme risks in life in general without being in control.

We are   heading towards disaster. 11 states have already approved it recreationally it seems. Bigots in Illinois approved earlier this year becoming the  11th state.

Absolutely, people in medical field like me know it better, there are ominous long term consequences of pot, particularly on developing brain,  for teen agers and in early 20s. That's why I hate Dems, all they aim for higher taxes, gay marriage and legalizing pots, nothing else. No wonder a crazy guy like Trump will beat them again.

@beetle By liberals I am referring to libtards here. Sadly the word 'liberal' is so misused these days, actual liberals are disowned by the PC left (who control narrative, academics/research, public discourse) and we have a devil like Ilhan Omar masquerading as liberal in the States. Not unlike the scenario in India where Rana Ayyub and Arundhati Roy are so called liberals. As long as Islamists and radical leftists hijack the platform of liberalism I simply won't respect that terminology.

Yaar, think of your kids goingg through this. On my recent trip to Vegas, how shyt it  has become due to the easy access to all this stuff.. Vegas is in Nevada and they were one of the first ones to  make it legal. This is going to happen all over the world eventually once all US states makes it legal.

Alcohol is more addictive than Marijuana. There is no ban of alcohol. If kids are getting wasted, they are high on alcohol as well. Why single out weed alone as cause for spoilt teens? Taxpayers are paying too much for a war on drugs which is filling up jails.

I don't see this happening ever in a state like Alabama for example. There will be a lot of protests given these are conservative Christian states.

Also I think Marijuana/Bhaang is legal in North India only during Holi for some licensed shops.
