Which cricketer plays like you?

A fun thread - whether you played at stadiums, in gullies or backyards, you had a style of playing cricket. The way you batted, bowled and fielded may remind you (or you imagined) of some cricketer(s). So which cricketer played/plays like you?

I would like to take great names like Viv Richards but will try to be as close as possible

 

• Batting: When playing regularly -> Ponting. When playing occasionally/out of practise -> Sehwag (against weak bowlers) or Waugh (against good bowlers) 
• Fielding: Was a good fielder. I recall diving around as well even on rough ground (feel dumb for doing that now). Once I hurt my face and people inquired - "did someone hit you with a sandal?"

@Harsh Thakor  Time to finally confess that you batted like Majid Khan and bowled like Imran Khan (w/o the tempering of course)

we played football in our school ..

people who are good in sports usually play volleyball ..

 

i was quite good in kho kho though

Almost all of my shots were in the V region (down the ground), for some strange reason I could never play a cover drive.

My school had Football, Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, and Cricket as key sports. There were Badminton and Tennis Courts too but not used frequently from what I recall. And of course Table Tennis.

Right handed Lara (high backlift, jumpy) but my output was more like Imrul Kayes. 

Leggie, accurate, ball wouldn't spin much, quick like Kumble, economical but not a wicket taker. 

Comparitively good ground fielder, loved to throw my body around and had speed, flat catching good, poor when it came to judging high catches and would invariably make a mess of them. Dunno which cricketer has these attributes on the field, generally they are good when it comes to high catching but poor in the ring/slips.

I played in junior rank CAB tournaments, mediocre still but some nice experiences. Unfortunately my school didn't have much time for cricket, generally there would be 200+ students playing football at a time and hardly 10 playing cricket. Football would be like 4-5 parallel matches with 20-30 a side and cricket would be relegated to a narrow strip on the side, pointless if you wanna invest time in cricket, that's how things are in Bengal. I thought I was a good cricketer and a mediocre footballer. Then when I came to college I was stunned by the cricket talent of other boys from UP, Delhi and Mumbai esp the batters from Mumbai...would look like scrawny nerds but beast like with the bat. I was mediocre compared to them, however suddenly better than most in football, funny. In college I would be among the bottom picks in cricket matches, but top pick in football and futsal. Sports culture and talent in various sports are very much region specific, that Mumbai has 40 Ranji titles and Bengal with 35 Santosh Trophy titles makes perfect sense. Then when you see the locals playing badminton in Hyderabad, TT/chess in Chennai or field hockey in Bhopal....even more clear.

Bowling - I don't know how many of you remember him but its Trent O'Brian from NZ. He played against us on our 2009 tour. Slingy action...

Kohli. Throws around but drops high catches.

Am a bowler, so I'd go for Irfan Pathan. Left arm swing bowler. 

Batting, the less said the better. I'd like to compare myself to Dravid due to the scoring rate.

As people know my family is from Andhra and I grew up in Mumbai. When I was younger I was a fast bowler, I was very tall for my age and had long luscious hair but then I realized I would be better served being an off spinner instead of a fast bowler.

 

Everyone used to praise my swanesque action but my coach then realized my untapped potential and asked me to take up batting. I used to entertain the crowds by hitting the most elegant of 6’s.

 

The one day my coach dropped me for a bits and pieces player who brought him  And his family Premier tickets to India’s first 3d movie chota chetan.

 

I was so pissed off that I didn’t pay attention to the road and my bicycle crashed into an old man’s car and I had immense road rage and beat him up.

 

That was the end of my cricket career.

It's Iain O'Brien and he didn't have a slingy action.

Apologies. Yeah Iain O'Brien. Agree he was not as slingy as Bumrah or Malinga but his pre-release action was as slingy as Bumrah.

Was the decision to turn into an off spinner inspired in any way by a chance encounter with a local Jayasuriya?
