From mid 2017 to late 2019, before Bumrah got injured, he was bowling much more wicket taking lines and lengths. And we were seeing lots of away going or straighter balls on the 4th stump. After coming back from injury ... apart from the 2nd test in NZ, he has bowled defensive lines and lengths. Needs to go back to what he was doing pre-injury. Get outside the off on the back foot and make runs vs slower ones as all his slower ones pitch outside the off stump and they are able to guess it more often. Abu Dhabi was two paced. Need to hit the deck hard and get that spongy variable pace and bounce out of the pitch. Ball hardly spun yesterday. express bowling Posted September 20, 2020 Author Share Posted September 20, 2020 Bumrah needs to go for wickets, like he did from mid 2017 to late 2019. In the last over yesterday, he was trying to stop runs, which is not possible these days unless you take wickets. Bumrah's formula in the end overs used to be 3 or 4 quick yorkers with an aim to take wickets ... with a couple of slower balls and bouncers as variations.
