It doesn't include the matches against NZ XI. He had scored one 50 and his strike rate was 3rd to Shaw and Samson.
Vk1 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 you make them play in that roles.. if needed have a longer challenger series tournament than playing these meaningless state vs state games.. Create a challenger series that mirrors IPL on a lower scale.. make players look up to that tourney.. let players know that they will be picked based on the position they bat.. so a vacant 5/6 slot will only go to someone who bats in that position. Theres huge difference between a number 4 vs 6.. understand that

Promote it just like you would an international series.

Majestic Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Indian ODI XI should be:- Rohit Gill/Agarwal/Dhawan Kohli Iyer Rahul(wkt) Pandya(not sure he gets in as specialist bat) Jadeja Saini Shami Chahal Bumrah

maniac Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Rohit Samson Kohli Gill Iyer Rahul (will be perfect for collapse or attack) Pandya Bhuvi Saini/Kuldeep/Deepak Chahar depending on conditions. Rotated with Saini or Bhuvi Bumrah Chahal

All sounds nice and creamy to stack up and give the chance to every youngster but if that makes Rahul move to six, then its a waste of a good batsman and overdose. Might as well rotate the youngsters and keep Rahul in top 4 or max 5.

I trust Rahul at 6 more than say Samson or Pant who are Top 3 material and can’t do the no.6 hitting or play the rebuilding game . While it may be harsh on him as he has capacity to smash some records if he bats in the top 3, he should make the sacrifice like his fellow Karnataka Rahul who did that for us. Every team has 6 bowling options its a must player batting out of their best position makes them half a player. Rahul n iyer batting in wrong positions then 2 stack of similar batsman together Rohit-samson, gill-kohli this is where we disagree u pick names vs i pick roles bat rohit, kohli in wrong even their career wont have been same. Yuvi became yuvi when he was promoted. Why wud anyone waste a player like rahul who has the potential to play an ABDV kind of game Collapse or attack batsman is best suited at 4
gakgupta Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 A bunch of Indian batsmen have made a case for themselves in the IPL this season and we're only into the second week. Who do you think would be the best choice for India at No. 6? 1. Pant: Has played for India and has scored runs at domestic and IPL level. Yet doesn't inspire confidence in LOIs. You think it's only a matter of time before he loses his wicket going for an ugly slog or one-handed hoick to cow corner. Also doesn't inspire confidence in a situation where India loses early wickets and he has to stay at wicket and build a big partnership, but he seems to be working on that. 2. Kishan: Hasn't scored as much runs at domestic or IPL as Pant but is capable of clearing the boundary and destroying attacks on his day. Performance overseas is a question mark. Also seems more suited at No. 4 or 5 rather than 6. 3. Samson: Also hasn't scored big runs at domestic or IPL but has a lot of potential. His big hitting makes him perfect for No. 6 and can also be bat like a top order player if wickets are lost early, but he's never been consistent. 4. Suryakumar Yadav: Has performed very well at domestic but not as much at IPL. Capable of scoring quickly making him an ideal No. 6 but he's not getting any younger. 5. Rana: Has performed at IPL but not as much in domestic cricket. Capable of hitting big shots and his off-spin is a plus, but it's questionable whether he's done enough to deserve an India call-up over others. Anyone else?Priyam gargSent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Amit228 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Need a batsman with bowling skills to aid team in crucial situation... India has too many one dimensional batsmen who don't have any bowling ability whatsoever... Hardik is not a 5th bowling option.. nd now after his injury he hasn't bowled .. That's why we keep on seeing jadeja continuously making into playing 11 even after his sh!t pie chucking... Dearth of a genuine all rounder is going to plague indian loi team for some time in future.
