Don’t rate him but good on him to be part of net bowling resources. Will get experience. However this guy always seems to be injured and bowl less than 100% Iike during u-19

wc or other major opportunities he has got

man this guy is made of glass

When Pat Cummins was out of commission for more than 4 years, I'm sure some 'fan' somewhere made this type of comment...

In Indian cricket, tall bowlers who can crank it up beyond 140 aren't a dime a dozen.

he isn't that fast

Nit, meet pick.

Bottomline, he is in the top dozen pace bowling prospects in India - ones that have not made the team yet.  And its foolish to write him off just because he's had his share of injury issues.  Most fast bowlers do.  Tall lanky ones, are more prone to it.  It is what it is.

Wish the young lad a quick recovery and hope to see him back in action soon.

He is only 22 and has a long career ahead of him. He bowls great lengths l, can swing n seam the vall and due to his height, gets good carry off the pitch. Yes pace us an issue but we should not keep looking for only 140 kmph+ bowlers. As he grows stronger and plays more, has the potential to be a 135-138 kmph bowler. Decent enough prospect.

He is a fine bowler but he gets a good coach to improve his action. It will help him stay injury free to. His action is just too ungainly with glaring technical flaws.

Some such pacers have succeeded but one thing common among such pacers is metronomical accuracy.  And they should preferably be tall too ( which Porel is ).

But if he cannot develop into a 140 k + pacer then Porel should try to be very very accurate like McGrath.

what I noticed is the most successful bowlers in cricket have always added pace to their skills at they went along.Anderson,Broad, Steyn,Ishant were all 135-140 when they started but they had skills .  140’s is a good pace to start off but 140 is not going to threaten any batsmen these days with small boundaries and big bats that becomes the ideal pace too. so you need to have 140+ Speed + skills. If you are 150+ now that makes you special but not sure how many 150+ bowlers have had long lasting careers.

This has been discussed to death. Anderson. Broad, Hazlewood have all built hugely successful Test careers bowling mostly 135-138 kmph. Holder bowls 125-130 kmph and has been immensely successful. 135-138 kmph with right set of skills (a good height helps with carry off the pitch) is good enough for a decent international career . Will not make such bowlers an ATG but good enough for 150-200 test wickets and have a 6-8 year long  career.

The new Kumar?

more in the Khaleel mould right hand version. Don’t see him get swing etc. just generic bowler who might get bounce once in a while

He doesn't crank 140.

My point in the earlier post was about developing pinpoint accuracy if you are a seamer without extra pace.

Tall pacers who get extra bounce have succeeded at 130 k to 140 k.

BUT

They have pinpoint accuracy like McGrath or Pollock

Broad and Anderson are not apt examples as they have high averages in Asia and have benefited a lot from playing a very high percentage of tests in swing friendly England. ( An advantage that Porel won't have )

I have seen only 3 really accurate frontline pacers from India.  Kapil, Bumrah and Bhuvi.

So, pinpoint accuracy is something that would need a lot of hard work to achieve. But Porel must work on this aspect.
