R!TTER Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Any guesses? Yup, that's him https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/19846/game/1237425/australia-a-vs-indians-tour-match-india-in-australia-2020-21 tweaker, New guy, raki05 and 3 others 6
Forward Defence Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Rahane needs to do a Damien Martyn 2004 for us to be remotely competitive in this series.
Majestic Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 After looking at the scorecard, I am actually distraught with the fact that Umesh might get a nod over Saini or Siraj because of the runs he has scored with bat. RAZPOR 1
Serpico Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 He's always been pretty good against pacers. It's nathon Lyon who is his nemesis Forward Defence 1
R!TTER Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 (edited) He'll need to do better than DM, the former had JL/MH then an in form Clarke, Gilly, Lehmann not to mention all the bowlers doing great as well. The biggest difference could well be the toss though, without Oz winning all 3 tosses that series we'd have at least drawn it if not won with a bit of luck! Edited December 6, 2020 by R!TTER
Gollum Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 His quota for the series is over. When the real tests start he will show his worth to this team, which is nil. SK_IH, raki05, RAZPOR and 3 others 6
Stan AF Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 I just hope if he plays he scores some 100s. That's all.
SK_IH Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 You are bang on about the "not deserve part". India deserves better raki05 and Adamant 2
Adamant Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 He is Indias Asad Shafiq, always performs when it doesn't matter and books his seat for the next test series. This Australia series should be his last chance, kick him out if he doesn't perform.

Overseas he has performed well more often than not, let it be Lords test win, last Aus series, in SA, etc. It is in India tests that he always under performs.

Come on man, maintaining a good average is different from actually playing impact innings and scoring tough runs. He failed in eng big time in 2018, failed in aus. He always plays like a support batsman, i have never seen him take the responsibility of team on his shoulders like Kohli and Pujara. When was the last time he had a bumper series away from home. We expect more than these 50s and 40s from him.

What has Kohli done in terms of match winning innings then? Rahane has played more innings leading to India wins in SENA than Kohli, although Kohli is the better batsman which I agree. Adamant and New guy 1 1

Sachin has two centuries in wins in away matches, olease don't use this criteria here. I am talking about scoring tough runs, Kohli scored 590 runs in england, highest scorer in SA even in aus he scored at an avg of 43. Secondly even if you compare them on wins and draws away from home Kohli has a century and 98 in win vs eng 80 odd at Mcg 55 and 45 vs Sa 3rd test on a deadly pitch Also centuries in draws vs aus in 2014. What has Rahane done aprt from that 100 at lords.
