zen Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) Pujara & Kohli are not playing in the pink ball practise game .... Ind 106/5 v Aus's 4th-5th-6th type bowlers (if playing in Aus 11) .... Even Aus A bowlers seem to have done their homework, not allowing too many balls to be played on the leg side after the quick start by Ind (from what I saw) Edited December 11, 2020 by zen
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) PS 111/6 in the 1st session Edited December 11, 2020 by zen
sandeep Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 I was looking for the paean to 'SDP' and didn't find it in 2 back-to-back Zen posts. Must say part of me is disappointed! coffee_rules, Vilander and nevada 3
Bhoot Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Yes. Except kohli n pujara to certain extent we are a pathetic batting side. None of these so called upcoming talent is good enough. You will see it in 2 seasons.
Real McCoy Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Yeah we are not a good batting side anymore like we used to in the 00s. Its almost 90s level batting here.
ShoonyaSifar Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Pink ball in Australia has been a graveyard for visiting batsmen. Average first innings total is around 200. NZ, SA, England, SL, Pakistani have all struggled largely due to lack of enough practice. raki05 1
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Some of these guys are avg 60 or more in FC .... Primarily selecting batsmen based on Ind FC record is probably not working (never gave it too much importance in the first place). Selectors need to identify players by “watching” them play and studying their game esp. v good attacks .... For FC records to be more useful, the # of Ranji teams would need to be reduced to 8 if not less
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 111/7 .... Magnificent 7 back in the hut

For FC records to be more useful, the # of Ranji teams would need to be reduced to 8 if not less Pink ball cricket is more about seam movements our batsmen historically have been quite poor countering that Ranjis are not the same ,pre 2012-13 Ranjis generally had sameness about the pitches laid across the country, but things have changed it made sure atleast we tackle bounce but seam movement is something , tackling which has not been addressed yet
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Conway picks up a wkt too so Ind being generous to allow everyone who bowled to get wkts
Gollum Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Also must remember our players haven't played FC for a long long time. Post corona crisis we just had that IPL and the recent white ball series. Aussies have been playing Shield cricket for over 2 months. Not saying we are a great batting unit or something, we must understand that we are terribly undercooked atm. Forget playing conditions, FC demands a mindset/temperament/application/shot-selection which can't be found in T20s. raki05 and sandeep 2
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Reminds me of the 100 odd & 66 odd all out in SA but at least the SA attack was top tier

Apparently you don't remember our last "under the lights" test at Lord's or the tour to NZ Kohli & Pujara are arguably better but they're no SRT or Dravid in these conditions! The ball does move & can move really sideways here under the lights so anyone thinking we have a better chance than Oz of winning, or even beating them based on our last tour here must be smoking real real quality stuff Our best bet is a dry, slow surface always. raki05 1
Real McCoy Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Regardless of conditions, it will be a tough tour for us to win here against Smith and co in their backyard

I would say chance of good success as an opener could be around 5% . Some one seriously interested to succeed in tests will have make that choice , he may try his hand in 50 at the most but not T20. So not much expectation from KL OR Shaw . Lets see. It would be better to look for pure openers who mostly play in 4-5 dayers , has scored runs vs tier A teams and has ability to leave and also survive vs Bouncers . Should look at Priyank Panchal, & the Bengal Opener and test them in A tours..
zen Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 I hope some of these guys redeem themselves in the 2nd innings to gain confidence before the first test. Another poor show with the bat, they may feel overwhelmed at the prospect of facing a much better Aus attack at Adelaide
Bhoot Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 This is gonna be a repeat of 99 tour. Mark my words.

As opposed to the best captain in the world who quit tests in between a series and ran away? He didnt play coz he wanted the others to get acclimatized to the conditions. That is my take on it. Stop bringing player's persnl stuff. You would probably get a good job in some tabloids. Keep it up. Edited December 12, 2020 by Bhoot
